Wow I have never seen the unedited version of this before!

Japan: "Can you call us something other than dipshit?"

It must be hard being vegan and having to skip on A/D/N/Q/U/V/W/Y for secretly being animal products...

"A" from ox, "D" from fish, "N" from snakes, "Q" from monkeys (I never knew! Reducing my use of those in the future), and "U/V/W and Y" are all made from poultry.

Vegans love animals as long as they are not abused or on a plate so using little pictures of animals would make vegans gleeful while writing most probably.

The base of the Taurus constellation looks like an A if you flip it the right way. Taurus is a bull. Essentially, it's just different abstractions from a constellation.

[–] Uruanna@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Weird how both the constellation and the actual head of a bull look like an inverted capital A, almost like the constellation was invented because it looks like the actual head of a bull

[–] ZoteTheMighty@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

Taurus the bull is the full constellation made of 10ish stars. The A part is probably just the face with the 5 brightest stars.

[–] expatriado@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

i think the Hyades represent the face of the bull, and looks a lot like capital A, hard to call it a coincidence, currently visible early night on both hemispheres

Something about the Phoenician one speaks to me

[–] Geobloke@aussie.zone 5 points 1 month ago

I like how the Canaanite one is just like "meh, good enough"

I think technically the word for this kind of evolution is "iterative" not "transformative. As each step iterates on what came before.

[–] gandalf_der_12te@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

it's an iteration of transformative steps

[–] NigelFrobisher@aussie.zone 1 points 1 month ago

Not really. No-one was intentionally repeating a process to generate a series of outcomes. It just kind of happened.

Also IIRC the letter B used to originally look like a house.
