Oh gosh the body is SORE. Did a Pilates core workout that really hit me when I got up to pee at 4am. Had to do today's squats in small chunks, but got them done in between a trip out to the Yarra Valley for cheese and wine.

The new cutlery set I ordered has two sizes of knives and forks. Perfect for those multi-course dinners we all sit down to every night.
It has made me wonder whether anyone these days actually uses/wants multiple cutlery sizes or if it's completely outdated outside of formal restaurants etc.?
Mostly it just brings to mind my mother's constant explaining to anyone that went near her cutlery drawer that they needed to make sure they got out the big knives and forks to set the table with. As far as I can tell she never used the smaller ones, they were just there to stress her out that someone might actually put them on the table by mistake. I tried to get her to move them away somewhere else so she didn't have to worry about it, but she never did.
My mum uses the small knives and forks. It's like trying to eat your meal with a kiddie set.
My mother probably should have gone that route, seeing she moved to using small plates instead of proper dinner plates. It drives me batty. You don't need to fill the entire plate with food, but having a larger plate gives you room to do things like cut your meat without accidentally knocking it off the side.
I'm a big fan of long handled teaspoons.
I have one I use to get the chutney out of the deep jars
Me too. So useful.
They're called sundae spoons! I love them too.
I've known them as sorbet spoons. I use them for heaps of things though.
I've known them as parfait spoons. Since long before I knew what parfait was.
I have a full set of eight long-handled teaspoons which are very well used, and also use lots of standard teaspoons, I've got a couple of cutlery sets worth in the drawer and don't plan to part with any of them.
Huh TIL!
After hearing so much anticipation about the upcoming movie, I'm currently at chapter 4 of Project Hail Mary (Audiobook). I am not disappointed.
Woooo join the club!!
I don’t remember there being so much interest in an upcoming movie from this group before
I'm up to chapter 8 and really enjoying it! It's been so easy to apply Ryan Gosling's voice to the main character.
I remember reading something that said Andy Weir had Ryan in mind when writing the book or something along those lines
Port Arlington Parkrun this morning. Beautifully still and clear. Pb too.
Edit. Now posted on the right days thread...
Reporting in.
3 hours sleep last night for no fun reason.
Utterly wrecked today.
Hello ipad, pirated PC games and my guitar.
Also the cat.
Some teenagers beat up and actually killed a guy at our local train station. Of course all the Facebook comments are about machetes, making sure they get tried as adults, and whether they're out on bail already.
I'd like to know whether the attack was random or if they knew the guy. We've almost made it illegal for kids to be online or outside, so what do people expect them to do? The only people who care about what kids are up to are people who hate them and don't want to see kids anywhere. If only we had some larger social project kids could feel like a part of
That’s horrific. But I really really really don’t agree with the explanation for murder being because someone was banned from social media or didn’t play outside enough, so of course they’re gonna go murdering?! You’re right about one thing though, these kids are growing up in families where no one cares about them. The parents are disinterested in what the kid is doing socially, where they are at 3am on a Tuesday, if they are doing ok in school, if the 10 knives and 3 machetes the kid has in their bedroom seems normal. The kids themselves are motivated by approval of their peers, kudos, and no repercussions. I don’t know what the answer is.
I don't mean there's a direct link between the social media ban and attacks like these, more that so much effort is spent legislating kids out of public life instead of finding ways to engage with them
How dare they be young in public! No good will come of this! /s
I do agree that some kind of social project would be helpful - sport and religion used to do this function, but nowadays religion has been hijacked by extremists (of all kinds) and is no longer even geographically inclusive, and sport is either too 'professional' or is too much bother/expense to be inclusive. There really isn't an obvious forum of endeavour for those that aren't 'good at sport' or whatever.
My thesis is that the most addictive drug in the whole universe is - excellence. Once experienced, nothing else comes close. I fully endorse mobilizing community resources to find forums of endeavour that allow nearly everybody to experience excellence in some form or another.
Imagine being the first homo sapien to pat a wolf?
There is a human, long deceased and who's name is lost to time, who got to be the first to pat a dog.
The movie Alpha covers this, sort of. It's fiction, nice caveman dog fiction. Not a deep film but nice.
And to all those that thought it would be fun to pat a sabre tooth, poisonous frog, giant bears etc, the gene pool thanks you for your service.
Nowadays, fast cars, meth and firearms are doing quite a good job in weeding a lot of non-viable idiots out of the gene pool. Especially in combination.
Imagine losing your arm to a wolf, then a few thousand years of selective breeding your ancestor loses a toe to an aggressive inbred pug.
Edit:
I have managed to go out and get fed and get supplies so I can shelter in place the rest of the weekend. I live right on Albert Park lake and it's madness everywhere, and very noisy
I could hear the noise when I was at the beach, the sound echoed over the water
How much would you pay for this big breakfast?

Answer
$22 at my local Vietnamese joint. Such good value.
Feeling blah today. Still, second load of washing is on so that’s something. I’m pep talking myself into tackling the folding basket.
I;m going into brunnie and the italian supermarket , is there anything anyone wants
stayed up late, had a bit of sleep in
I'm allowed to have a long weekend too!
I stayed up working until 7am, then slept the rest of the morning in preparation for working again tonight.
Two 12 hour night shifts certainly make it feel like I'm having a very loooong weekend too!
I sometimes miss having a long weekend at the same time as everyone else, but condensing all the work into 12 hour shifts basically means I get a long weekend every week, so I can't really complain! And they pay out the day off in leiu for the public holiday, so the extra pay this week is a bit nice as well.
