Iran launched a new wave of attacks Thursday at Israel, American bases and countries around the region, threatening that the United States would “bitterly regret” torpedoing an Iranian warship in the Indian Ocean and calling for “Trump’s blood,” while Israel said it hit multiple targets in Iran.

Israel announced multiple incoming missile attacks and air sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Iranian state television said additional strikes also targeted U.S. bases.

The Israeli military said it had hit 80 targets in Lebanon linked to the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militant group over the past 24 hours and that a wave of strikes on Iran had hit long range ballistic missile launch sites and other targets.

Am I the only one who thinks that the US military commandment intentionally allows the enemy to strike them for now so that they will have more excuses for continuing the war and also have more enraged soldiers willing to go killing? Thus looks awfully similar to what the Israel was doing before the genocide in Gaza.

Israel's definitely using the same playbook, they're even targeting hospitals and schools in Iran. Remember a few days ago when a girls elementary was hit? It's been verified that those were precision airstrikes, though it hasn't been confirmed if the missiles were US, Israeli, or even Iran but my money is on Israel because that's exactly what they did in Gaza and what they're doing at other locations in Iran and Lebanon.

Iran has been divided into two BMOAs (ballistic-missiles operation areas) with Israel responsible for bombing Tehran and West/Central Iran, while the US deals with the coast and south eastern Iran.

Tehran is squarely in Israel’s target zone via Syrian airspace.

Also the lack of Iranian air defences mean almost all the weapons used are precision bombs via planes, but the US is testing out their own knock-off drones.

I was joking that he was ordering the old F15 to be vulnerable so they can shot down and then have the excuse to buy the shiny new ones.

Alternatively I was thinking the F15s that keep getting "shot down" are really just the pilots "refusing" illegal orders by ditching the jets.

i wish them well on their quest

I really hate to see more death and destruction, except for that one, and a few is his buds.

As wild as it is, and as much as I've despised Iran and talked about the USA's potential to become something great:

I hope they get it.

If they keep striking the gulf states they might bring them into this war

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

A lot of them are running low on air defense as well.

[–] NoneOfUrBusiness@fedia.io 0 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

They basically already are. They're not attacking because they can't, not out of measured caution.

The RSAF has in the neighborhood of 400 fixed wing attack aircraft, they can strike Iran at will.

The UAE has 120 fixed wing combat aircraft, they can also strike Iran at will.

The Emirates and Israelis have worked together a bit in Africa so they should be familiar with earth other’s tactics and since most of their planes are American they can refuel using US tankers

Then why don't they attack already? Given their posturing and the overall situation I highly doubt they're expecting cooler heads to prevail.
