I 100% agree with you but for me when I fuck up my back (happens every year or two) and it hurts but doesn't have any actual (diagnosable) tissue damage, a chiropractor can get me like 80% better with one visit. I think of it as a strong percussion massage. But yeah they all claim all types of unsubstantiated BS and try to get you on preventative maintenance schedules for no reason. Also, don't ever let them or anyone else adjust your neck. People get severe injuries from neck "adjustments"
Just pay for a massage, not a stupid woowoo one, a real one, depending on where you go it might be covered by insurance. They actually know how the body works, as far as that issue goes and require more licensing than a chiropractor. Chiropractic is a pseudo science con with the potential of causing spinal fractures and paralysis.

Chiropractors don't prescribe opioids.
They do tend to cause a lot of spinal injuries, though.
People that think they can avoid opiate addiction by seeking holistic medicine should be warned that the quacks in the chiropractor's office have no idea what they are actually doing.
They also come with the risk of death and paralysis. Shit should be illegal, and at one point was until they declared it a religious belief.

How it feels as an Aussie...
I literally had the worst pain of my life a few weeks ago, I got sunburned on about 30% of my body. I later applied some cream I think I was allergic to. I started screaming in agony and needed to go to the hospital. I was waiting for two fucking hours and all they gave me were two paracetamol pills.
I had to beg a nurse to give me SOMETHING for the pain. She gave me ONE tiny oxycodone pill.
It did nothing so I thrashed about for what felt like a half hour, screaming my head off, before they came back to inject me with something.
At this point I'm thinking "FINALLY, THE CALVARY HAS ARRIVED! MORPHIIIINNNNEEE!"
Nope. It was a sedative to stop me hyperventilating and screaming.
My medical record is squeaky clean, it should've been obvious that even if I was there to get high, I was heavily burned and in need of pain relief.
Fucking nanny state. If I want to do morphine then give me morphine for fuck sake. It's not abuse if I legitimately need it.

Oh please, the most anyone gets with serious injuries anymore is 10 opiates with one refill. And whatever drugs the CIA pushes to the plug, who begins the first adulteration, feeding the prison (chattel slavery/death camp) industrial complex.
As someone working in the medical field this was accurate perhaps 20 years ago and now things have gone the opposite direction - many doctors are wary of prescribing opioids, even when it's justified, out of fear it will lead to addiction.
Your body your choice.
