Skies darkening rapidly, red radar blobs heading my way, here we go.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 1 hour ago

definitely got Bodeful in the last ten minnies

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 3 points 1 hour ago

It's already passed me and the sky is lightening again. The red blobs went a bit north of me, so I had some brief heavy rain but nothing torrential.

There are some people at the vets consulting on a 57 year old cockatoo.

Better stuff some tissues under your door, the rain is here

I use Google photos to backup my pics and every now and again it'll give me something like this.

What's the difference between a golf ball and the g-spot?

answerMen will actually search for the golf ball.

Today's to do list:

  1. Take Miss Meow to the vet for her checkup.
  2. Maybe do a bit of gardening if the weather is ok. Or just whatever I feel like really.

It's new car day!!! Yay!!! Pity it won't be delivered all shiny cause of the rain, but I'm still just so excited for this whole saga to come to a close!!

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 2 points 5 hours ago

yay ๐Ÿ™‚

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Wow, the UPS I ordered yesterday is being delivered today. Impressive.

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

my new accessories for the phone are coming today too

I know people hate on amazon but it's cheaper and quicker to get delivered and I can be sure to find what I need. I don't have to pay for public transport or spend hours going to shops

[โ€“] RustyRaven@aussie.zone 2 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

I get almost everything delivered. I only physically go to a shop every couple of months, and that's mostly Bunnings to pick up bulky garden stuff.

I often find Amazon is not the best deal anymore though, and they won't deliver a lot of items to my new address. The UPS is from a Bunnings Marketplace seller, every big company seems to have a 'Marketplace' these days.

[โ€“] Taleya@aussie.zone 2 points 2 hours ago

that's because they're all owned by westfarmers

[โ€“] Seagoon_@aussie.zone 1 points 4 hours ago

good to know, will check it out ๐Ÿ‘

[โ€“] Bottom_racer@aussie.zone 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Big thanks to everyone yesterday for the advice and support.

Gonna take a breather and head down the bellarine and look at gutters / downpipes in the rain. Seems about the most productive thing I can do atm.

Went for a walk and saw one of the neighbours. I smiled and waved and was ignored. Turns out they are not happy and called the council because cockies are eating our street tree and making a mess on the footpath. Our dog also likes to bark at her dog and she started yelling at him yesterday. Never done that before.

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 1 points 27 minutes ago

Well obviously council should send a written warning letter to the cockies with 30 day notice to vacate the trees. Or better yet, council should rip out the trees and put in plastic ones, that way wildlife will have nowhere to live and then street will be nice and tidy forever.

[โ€“] SpinMeAround@aussie.zone 3 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

Might be going through a rough time and taking it out on other things?

[โ€“] SituationCake@aussie.zone 2 points 23 minutes ago

Probably not. Iโ€™ve lived around anti-nature neighbours before, they just hate the idea of leaves and birds and wish everything was dead, because then it is โ€˜tidyโ€™. The only acceptable gardens are lawn, concrete or pebbles.

Welpโ€ฆ the restless anxiety energy is back even though my body is exhausted. I managed to get stuck into cleaning but after a while Melbcat started crying and howling until I lay down for a cuddle.

spoilerSheโ€™s been settled and had her meds so Iโ€™m back to washing and bagging every piece of cloth in the house in case the spores got in and thinking how to make my furniture setup more easily movable for more regular vacuuming. I guess if done right this will also break the flea cycle ๐Ÿ˜Ÿ ~~and my body~~

Iโ€™ve ordered a black UV light but am aware it may be low quality and also not every type of ringworm glows.

I have no idea what to do about the black cat. It would be easy to just stop feeding and patting him, let someone else help him so Iโ€™m not constantly undoing my decontamination.

Especially with all the home nursing care on my plate for my own cat. Especially as I canโ€™t exactly see him regularly to apply ointment, and a medicated bath or quarantined fostering in my bathroom is out of the question. But I donโ€™t know if anyone else is helping.

Eh. One thing at a time huh.

Also itโ€™s been determined my own roof is fine - itโ€™s the roof of my neighbour thatโ€™s allowing ingress and led to my ceiling cavity being flooded when it rains. Unfortunately these neighbours wouldnโ€™t talk to me and may not speak English so it persisted for years and led to a mould problem. But the managers will deal with it now.

This may lead to works :(

[โ€“] StudChud@aussie.zone 7 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

You are a kind soul, may I suggest some things?

  • stop patting the black cat. Only because it might have a disease you can't see and Melbcat is fragile at the moment.

  • notify the council and local shelters/rescue orgs of the black cat. BC will need to be captured and assessed to determine what issues they may have, and whether they can be treated/rehabbed.

  • focus on you and Melbcat. You two are most important.

[โ€“] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 4 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

Thanks Spud. I really should stop patting himโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ’”

spoilerI was aware of the possibility of ringworm due to tiny round patches of hair loss but took measures such as wearing long clothing then removing shoes, washing hands thoroughly like the signs say to, fully showering and changing into fresh clothing afterwards (putting the old stuff in the wash immediately).

He wants affection you see, and will brush up against your arms and legs.

I think this lesion happened because a single time I rushed out in shorts to get him dosed with a flea and worm spot on, he head bunted my knee, and I must have neglected to wash that area thoroughly in the shower afterwards. I slipped up. I forgot and walked in the house a few times with shoes on too.

Iโ€™ve been resisting turning him in because 1. the risk of euthanasia is likely high and the vet and pet shop manager Iโ€™ve spoken to agree. And 2. thereโ€™s a non-zero chance he may belong to a neighbour, maybe even an aggressive mentally ill neighbour who looks for reasons to take revenge.

I would very likely have to trap him myself to turn him in which could be a very complicated process. I can talk to someone who worked in cat rescue about my options but as an adult black cat with suspected ringworm and possible cat flu Iโ€™m scared of getting him killed.

But I may have to concentrate on Melbcat because she doesnโ€™t seem in a good way.

just do what you can and feel comfortable with, hugs
