We're a collection of free thinking, high IQ individuals united against hate and fascism. We're basically his worst enemy. If he changes his mind and decides to ban Tik Tok he'll definitely come for decentralized social media next.

Oh no, I guess that means the code base will have to move from GitHub to Codeberg. I don't see an issue with that.

Seeing as both Github and GitLab are run by publicly listed US companies, getting off those platforms removes the risk.

More likely it would be used as a targeting operation. They're scanning social media to target resistance organizers. To do that, they need places that like minded people will talk shit about the regime. They don't care about people talking shit, they're looking for the ones saying 'hey lets get together and do something about it'. It's the public version of the dark web infiltration. When you get ties between the two, someone knocks on your door.

Lemmy is being used to as a free source of data to train AI. Much more important as far as Trump is concerned (as if he knows about us at all). If you don’t believe me, feel free to ask ChatGPT about which Lemmy instances it knows about. It can even produce posts which fit the tone of particular instances.

I’d be far more worried about the concentration camps tbh
