Hey so I'll delete this in a bit so it doesn't clog up the page lol.

So the shoulder tattoo is the newest and I love it. I wasn't planning to get any more tattoos on my arms and I'm instead going to be moving to my legs.

But I'm almost kind of regretting getting the tattoo on a different arm than the first two.

For my legs...I was going to put them all on only one leg...the same side as the shoulder tattoo, leaving the other leg blank.

Do you think this balance looks fine, or is it missing something on one of these sides? I was dead set on calf and ankle placement for my next (same side as shoulder), but now I'm wondering if it should be on my arms instead.

I'm still 90% likely to go calf on the same side as a the shoulder, but I'm curious of your opinions.

Thanks and sorry for the dirty mirror!!! Don't judge I'll be cleaning up to host my family this weekend lmao!!

As per what another poster said, if you wanted to work up to having a, or two, patchwork sleeves, then work on filling it in ... short of that, do what you feel, there's no rules and many people have them scattered without any pattern or plan :-)

Meanwhile, I have a half-sleeve which is a collection of smaller tattoos that span 20 years, and started on the other side in November, because I always fancied that before I could afford it

That's super awesome that you've built it up like that over time! My idea was to start going for patchwork on my leg and be done with my arms, really.

Then you're done with your arms ;-)

I don't think there's anything wrong with shoulder placement with the tattoos that you already have. If you were planning on building a patchwork sleeve I would have recommended you kept all of your tattoos on one side because having a single sleeve and no other tattoos can offer a really clean look.

Really the only placement that would look weird is if you got it on your hand and had no other tattoos. I feel like that makes you look like you're wearing fingerless gloves. Oh tattoos on the face when you have no other tattoos.

Yeah I wasn't initially planning an arm sleeve. I plan to eventually go into a single patchwork leg sleeve, though! Same side as shoulder.

Agreed, but it's typically called "veal."

Idk now I'm second guessing...maybe quail?

I'm no tattoo balance expert, but I feel like something on the inside left bicep would even everything out

[–] dingus@lemmy.world 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah that's what I've been thinking about really. Problem is idk that there's anything I really want to put there.

An Ace Ventura tattoo of course

You should get the Mike Tyson tattoo across the face, fool!

Or the rare triple-Mike!

Well I was actually going to do this one but larger to spread across my entire face. Thoughts???

Shave the eye brows and get "NO RA" on one side and "GRATS" on the other.

Nah but for real I have chile friend with facial and head tattoos. Theirs looked sick af. Ragrets? Not even one.

To be real, I think at least in the US, tattoos in more odd, visible locations are becoming more accepted. They don't seem to be the total job stoppers they once were. They still most definitely are for many jobs, but not as many as they once were. One of my coworkers has some flowers up the side of her neck and I think it's very pretty. Not my bag at all, but some of these can be very cool.

My kanaka friend had neck tats, face tats, and "as above" on one side, and "so below" on the other side right where his dreaded mohawk would get shaved .

This is the second time I’ve interacted with you and I’d like to say I have no regrets.

Thanks, broski. Being a dingus is my favorite past time.
