They don’t hate the planet, but they don’t care for it either. What they hate most are liberals—they want to see them cry. Liberals are over-represented in science, so they reject science because that makes liberals’ hair catch fire.

Their buddies in the fossil fuel industry want to see line go up, so they placate them with stuff like this. It’s all about money and a strong lack of long-term vision. Short term “wins” are all most politicians care about.
caring for the planet makes capital accumulation more difficult, and that’s what the oligarchs are concerned about. I think most MAGAs are just brainwashed by them.
