Dude supposedly masturbated in public so this is pretty far off.

What does whacking it in public have to do with anything?

Maybe it wasn't wrong. This Diogenes guy was weird.

[–] Tempus_Fugit@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Folks aren't so black and white. If Diogenes was a real dude, he held quite a bit of wisdom, even if his lessons were... Unconventional. Supposedly Alexander the Great respected his philosophy of cynicism.

Even if you study, you might end up like him.

Just what the beggar needs; hope (that in 20 years he'll be saved by a boy who creates the conditions which eliminate poverty)

You don't need to study that much, just bring down capitalism

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

Why didn't I think of that‽

You still need educated people under communism. To do the science, design the machines, figure out how to ensure resources are best allocated to meet everyone's needs, to analyze history so we don't make the same mistakes over and over.

That said, one should study because knowledge is a great gift and one that those who wish to oppress you want you to lack.

Study up on how to bring down capitalism, class.

Diogenes is doing just fine

The important thing is that the unhoused person is a prop you can point to.

These two statements are both true and valid.

These days, you're better off learning skilled crafts and trades to be honest. For the most part. Better regulated working times, unions, pay etc. Everyone today seems to have studied something.
