Reminds me of this by the New Yorker:

In Munich, Germans congregate in the fall for beer celebrating the birthplace of the Nazi movement

Why is anyone defending her when her take is actually shit?

For one, enabled implies Israel's not the ones doing it.

AOC voting to fully fund Israel's iron dome

According to the congresswoman, "In the macro of national impact, I probably should have gone with my values - which would be to vote 'No' - but in the micro, I do believe this created a window in our community to bring all folks to the table."

It baffles me that socdems really can't see through her.

anyone else you're psyched for?

at the end of the day all these people are vying for control of the worlds largest murder death kill machine, its entire economy is based on outsourced suffering and resource extraction. (outsourced suffering meaning outsourced to anybody not wealthy enough to avoid it)

that doesnt magically change when someone takes power. it just moves in a slightly different direction for a time, mask on, mask off, mask on again. and in order to gain control of the machine you have to play the game, and the game requires human sacrifice. from every single member that participates.

thats not an excuse, mind you. its just the reality of american politics, and modern politics in general. and generally speaking, capitalism.

the best we can hope for is either a peoples revolution, or candidates that consistently shift the window further to a sustainable future with the least amount of suffering as possible. while completely dismantling its economic and political structure, and replacing it with something more equitable.

there are going to be a lot of seemingly middle of the road candidates that leftists arent going to be psyched about, or people on the right for that matter. but it is what it is.

not stoked about it, but what can i, a young canadian boy from the prairies do, but watch and wait, twiddling my widdle fumbs?

good luck down there.

My favorite party in the US is PSL, in Canada, the communist party of canada.

These are actual anti-war and anti-imperialist parties that oppose their country's wars, with votes and actions like protests, unlike socdems who want to preserve welfare state policies funded off the backs of the world's working poor.

US Socdems always support their country's wars, because they know that a weakening of the empire would result in a smaller pie from which they can negotiate crumbs from. Here's a few countries Bernie Sanders voted to attack:

That was her line? They enabled it?

Look at my "left wing"

[–] dessalines@lemmy.ml 6 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Its the micro and the macro.

In the macro, AOC fully supports Israel, voting to fund their genocide against Palestinians. In the micro, she uses vague passive-voice language to deflect Israel's responsibility.

Holocaust guilt time is over, sorry not sorry

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 17 points 1 day ago

Turns out Germans have never felt Holocaust guilt and are gladly supporting another one.
