RULES

  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
  5. Keep it clean and SFW
  6. No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

What are some daily little ingrained habits that you have? The kind of things that are automatic, ritualistic, and usually without much thought.

I keep a tube of chapstick with me all the time and apply it a few times a day without much thought. I only really notice when I happen to misplace it or run out. In those cases, I'll feel a bit off that day.

P.S. The balm also works great as a lotion backup. Like when a child of mine complains about their dry, cracked knuckles in the winter. I suppose some people might find that weird, but it's pretty common for me to MacGyver solutions.

I keep sanitising myself, basically whenever i can. Not in a medical profession. I got this habbit before covid.

🤔 I image that would leave one hands rather clamy/sticky.

i did not get this one. maybe you are refering about something i do not know. if it is about stickiness f sanitisers, that comes from glycerine and stuff, which mine does not ( i make my own by acquiring raw materials in larger quantities)

Oh wow. I don't really use sanitizers much at all because I've always found them to leave a film that I didn't like. I've never really encountered any of that didn't leave me feel somewhat clammy or sticky.

that is likely from things added for smell and moisturising. if you have ipa or some other alcohol, that just vaporises, leaving absolutely nothing, alongside also taking a bit of your moisture and skin oils.

in mine i add some iodine (anti-bacterial,etc), 6-aldehyde (very common medical disinfectant) some ipa and restt is water. it leaves very little behind, is a bit harsh on skin (i could make it milder, but just prefer strong), and is cheap when made in bulk.
