Casual Conversation
Share a story, ask a question, or start a conversation about (almost) anything you desire. Maybe you'll make some friends in the process.
RULES
- Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
- Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including heavily implicative subject matter when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
- Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
- Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world
- Keep it clean and SFW
- No solicitation such as ads, promotional content, spam, surveys etc.

Unlike reddit, the rate of new posts here isn't too huge to keep up with, so my advice to new folks is always to browse by new/all for a while. If you see things you like, you can subscribe to the communities. Then, after a while, you'll have a bunch of subscriptions and can change to subscribed if you prefer.
It depends what you're into.
You can use the Communities tab or the Explore one, in the desktop web browser at least. Or you can use the search to find communities related to whatever you're interested in.
Here is one suggestion to help you start, most essential in my humble opinion and 100% positive: !calvinandhobbes@lemmy.world
As with all places on interent where you can post stuff, there are memes - start with them. find your favorite meme community, and since on pieffed, you can explore user made feeds (meta communities if you will) where you can select interests and get relevant community content getting delivered.
