If you find an injured owl:

Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.

Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.

Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.

If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

I get all my owl content from here.

You should check out also owls in towels too!

[–] FauxPseudo@lemmy.world 14 points 5 days ago

I feel like I get enough birds in towels at home. And don't even get me started on cats in towels.

We've seen that already. Here's something fresh: boots in boots!

First superb, now puppyb? What's next, turkeyb?

I saw way too many superbowl posts today before I figured out they were talking about football. I even went to the grocery store and the checker said,"Enjoy the game" and I just smiled and nodded, thinking that was a weird thing to say. Sometimes I'm frighteningly slow.

I'm watching it. Kind of a snoozer game so far.

Bad Bunny was interesting. Not my jam, but it was a good show. Was that Lady Gaga helping?

[–] anon6789@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

I think it was Gaga.

It seemed pretty good, but his Spanish is at a higher level than mine. The choreography was really good, and the music was fun and energetic. I liked all the countries getting represented at the end.

Yeah, the flags were a great touch.

I have practically no Spanish proficiency, just a few words here and there. I'm a little better with German, but not enough that I could pick up enough to know what a song was about without reading up on it first. (Of course that's true for me even with English, I usually have to hear it a few times before I can start to figure out lyrics.)

I'm watching it on a Canadian stream, so the commercials feel strange. I get the Canadian propaganda instead of the American stuff, people are saying "zed" instead of "zee", etc.

No owls in the game, so go hawks.

I looked for pics of owls playing with footballs today, but there were just a few videos, which are a pain to convert, and different people's own Superb Owl events, which are too specific to share here. They'll probably all come in tomorrow 😔

The Green Day opener was fine, but looking at them reminds me I'm old.

Owls are best, but it feels more like a hawks kind of day.

Bird team, for the win!

[–] aldhissla@piefed.world 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Is it the Pats' strategy to just straight up suck until the 59th minute? Because it looks like Maye is pondering his fucking orb every down.

[–] notthebees@reddthat.com 3 points 5 days ago

I want them to suck in general.

But that sounds about right.
