Trump’s comments on Wednesday come just days after he called on Republicans to "nationalize" state-managed elections.

Depose the US president. Let’s just fucking do it already.

"Today, Donald Trump began laying the groundwork to call the midterm elections fraudulent when republicans lose."

Just to save everyone some mental processing.

This is of course the same game he’s been playing since 2016. His fans are just legitimately too blinded by their cult to realize it.

Literally every time. Now that he’s not running, he’ll just keep repeating it for every election because it works for his idiot base of Christian nationalists.

A president has literally nothing to do with them.

A president does not sign off on them.

From...not signing off on them? I would guess no one.

The real question is how will he stop states from moving forward with their results?

Edit: for example he publicly states he does not accept the results of democratic elections, then everyone just gives him a thumbs up and does it anyway. He can't keep up with a nation, even his whole administration isn't moving forward that fast

They will just not swear in newly elected officials. There is already presedent set by them for this, as they refused to swear in Adelita Grijalva for 7 weeks to delay vote on Epstein.

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 8 points 11 hours ago

Only to eventually swear her in because if not the government would remain shut down and the supreme leader wants his bs budget

[–] Doubledee@hexbear.net 1 points 8 hours ago

The Supreme Court could stop the count and declare a result. They have done that already once.

I suppose he could try to have his incompetent personal army arrest any candidate he thinks cheated.

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 1 points 5 hours ago

He'll probably call them a terrorist and have them executed.

We can imagine a dystopian scenario where a sitting US president loses an election but claims he didn't. That the election was rigged. Then he sends a mob of people to storm the legislature, either to pressure the vice president not to enact the election results or to have him killed along with leaders of the opposition before he does (the traitor!).

I mean we can imagine something like that happening if a truly deranged person was president, but why would we.

[–] aeronmelon@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

Trump’s Sharpie says otherwise.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago

Honest meaning Republicans win, in contradiction to polls and general feeling in the country right now

[–] N0t_5ure@lemmy.world 13 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

In a way, this is good news, as it shows that Trump is not confident in his control over the elections.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 7 points 12 hours ago

You have to admit that is pretty thin soup, but lucky for you, daddy is tursty

[–] Yeller_king@reddthat.com 6 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Yeah, but what's he gonna do about it? Round up a mob to violently storm the capitol?

[–] BigMacHole@sopuli.xyz 7 points 10 hours ago

That would Require MONEY so as your Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer I'll do EVERYTHING in My POWER to ENSURE he ~~doesn't~~ HAS that Money!

[–] Doubledee@hexbear.net 1 points 8 hours ago

Presumably he will be monitoring the polling and will intervene using his agencies if it looks like things are going wrong. Declare you won, show your evidence for it such as it is, convince your supporters that you're correct and then dare the Democrats to do literally anything to stop him.

[–] U7826391786239@lemmy.zip 7 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

as usual, not a single word spent talking about what anyone's going to do about it, because no one's going to do anything about it

[–] green_red_black@slrpnk.net 2 points 11 hours ago

I think it’s more we don’t know exactly how Trump will respond should the election indeed go his way. Yeah there is the possibility of him sending the Feds to block democrats from taking their seats and such. But honestly for all we know Trump could Chicken Out again and just do wasteful lawsuits

[–] Endymion_Mallorn@kbin.melroy.org 6 points 12 hours ago

Good. Then we'll see who's actually in charge around here - him, or us.

[–] rottenmummy@lemmy.world 5 points 12 hours ago

News flash, he won't

[–] BenderRodriguez@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

What does he know about honesty?
