It's not forbidden at all - in fact, Republicans love when you do that!

Yes we get it American politics sucks.

Capitalists loves it when Americans vote third party, because that means the fascist party wins. Whoever made this meme seems to not really understand how fucked up the US election system is, and how tailored it is to allow an oligarch minority to rule everything.

The only problem is that it's a wasted vote. In the UK and US, there are only two parties that have any chance of getting in, as as much as I would love to see a Green ruling party, it will not happen until we have proportional representation. The Lib Dems are probably your best bet for that in the UK, seeding as they got 70 seats in the last election. Once they get power and implement proportional representation, then we can vote for whoever we actually want.

thats the meme tho

u can only vote within the rules, no free choice

[–] TheLeadenSea@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

I mean, you can freely choose to waste your vote...

[–] Prunebutt@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 hour ago

And why is it set up that way that you'd waste that vote?

[–] Egonallanon@feddit.uk 2 points 1 hour ago

If you believe the greens don't have a shot in the UK you've not been looking at the polling. Both the major parties are polling atrociously while the greens are currently sitting in second. Also o shan't be voting for the lib dems on the back of them promising vote reform I fell for that last time and it went atrociously for all.

If it is about US, then first past the post system is mathematically proven to always drift into two parties. So vote for 3rd party is essentially throwing your vote out.

This is why now the political make up is essentially Republicans vs Democrats (which is the party for everyone else)

Want too have choice? Concentrate on local elections to change state laws to use Reached Choice Voting. That voting system would give a chance to 3rd parties.
