The survey is claimed to be representative.

Here are the slides (german): https://www.about-drinks.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/01/Danone-Milchalternativen-Studie.pdf

Coconut milk isn't even mentioned? It's so much better.

Can someone recommend a barista oat milk available in Germany to me? I used Oatly, but the price is outrageous. And must others I've tried are either too thin or taste like wet cardboard.

I'd be interested in other alternatives as well, but most I've tried were horrendous.

Alpro “Shh… This is NOT M💧LK” is slightly cheaper than oatly and tastes more neutral.

I personally gave up and exclusively drink oatly.

Edit: found this article, worth a look: https://kaffeemacher.de/blogs/kaffeewissen/haferdrink-test

I had this for, I don't know, two years, but then I got a batch which was just off. Switched to Oatly.

I edited my reply, so in case you didn't see: maybe this article helps you. https://kaffeemacher.de/blogs/kaffeewissen/haferdrink-test

Thank you 💖

The vemondo Barista Oat Drink from Lidl is great. Taste is a tiny bit less good than Oatly sadly, but at least you do not support fascists with the purchase (Oatly has a big MAGA shareholder). Note: be sure that you get the vemondo oat milk produced by "Grønvang" from Denmark. They also sometimes have batches from "White and Green" from the Netherlands (Vlissingen), which I find much less tasty (too watery). So don't buy those.

I'll try, thank you.

This one from Aldi (Süd) is the absolute best. It's a bit hidden in the refrigerated section, so a lot of people don't even know it exists.

I have never seen this, but I'm not really looking for refrigerated milk, so that might be the issue here. I will definitely check it out. Thank you! 💕

Didn't know a version like that existed. In our Aldi we have the non-refrigerated version and a bsrista version that is really good and creamy.

Available in Aldi Nord and Süd.

I just got home and could still jump into my car. I think my Aldi (Süd) is open till 21...

I went to Lidl instead. People dropping in five minutes before they close are the worst ^^

I'll tell tomorrow once the coffee machine is hot and ready 💕

After having the same issue, I tested literally all plant milks available in German supermarkets that are cheaper than Oatly. Eventually landed on "take it veggy NO MILK" from Kaufland. It's cheap, tasty and thick. But that's not oat-based, I think it's peas.

I'll try that. Thank you. The last milk made out of peas was the most horrible taste I've ever had in my mouth, but I will try 😂

I can second that "This Is Not Molk" (I refuse to spell that as intended) is okay. I use a lot of that since I get it for cheap on clearance. I personally really like the cashew drink from dm, though. Unlike oat-based drinks it's actually tasty.

No idea how the price compares; it's probably on the expressive side at 2.25 €/l. But tasty.

Cashew IS tasty, that's true. I have no clue why I hadn't bought it in the last few months.

That does not match my perception of reality at all. I can believe that it's higher than one might expect, because lactose intolerance is a thing, but then I'd put it at 20%, if I'm being optimistic.

Maybe if you asked "Have you ever tried plant-based milk?" and only asked folks under 40, then I could believe the result to be 50%. But not for regular consumption across the whole population.
