It's a smarter nozzle, see? The last one only pumped gas, this one let's you be tempted to consume while you pump gas. You wouldn't want a moment of free time in piece would you?

Advertising should be illegal.

[โ€“] pyre@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

yeah unless it's literal signs on your own building/workspace, or it's just your branding on your own product, etc. advertising must be illegal. they had their chance to be reasonable with it and they fucked it. the entire advertising industry deserves to be outlawed.

Here in the u.s they have insanely loud fucking screens that scream commercials at you.

Like volume to the max.

If they had these in the US, they would be vandalized so, so much.

[โ€“] Schmuppes@lemmy.today 7 points 3 months ago (2 children)

But they have big screens with ads on the pumps, which the Europeans don't.

In the US the ad videos are so loud, they would be considered OSHA violations. I'm not sure how they get away with it.

If you know someone who can get you some anti petrol stickers, esp ones that promote renewables and / or maybe the new Technology Connections video, please do so.

[โ€“] m3t00@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago

oops, dropped against the curb

[โ€“] Frenchgeek@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 months ago

Cover it with a trash bag to "protect your hand from the smell".

[โ€“] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 7 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Does the pump shut down if the screen is borked?

[โ€“] Darkassassin07@lemmy.ca 8 points 3 months ago

Would the station prefer to replace screens every few days, or just stop offering gas?

Avery Ultra Hold 2" X 4" mailing labels would probably help. They'd cover most of it and are thicker, so more opaque. 100 for six bucks. Toss them in the glovebox and deploy as needed.

[โ€“] halfapage@lemmy.world 6 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Can you crack those screens by gently pushing with a carbide tip?

I would smash the thing in rage and then end up paying to fix it because they caught it on camera.
