The day after it happened I was speaking to my parents (conservative, right wing) and the Channel 10 news kept repeating the flag burning footage from Australia Day paired with Pauline Hanson and co. saying it should be illegal.

Of course my parents kept repeating what they were saying on TV, fawning over PH’s views and how she should be leading the country. Meanwhile, an attempted bombing happened. Not a fucking peep. Not even on the little bit of ABC radio that I listen to.

Incredible that these “save our country” types are more interested in the rights of a piece of cloth than people’s rights or safety.

anyone who starts banging on US style nationalism about the sacredness of the flag needs to be on a watch list. I'm not even fucking joking. We've never held that level of nationalism. Even methed up dickheads prefer the southern cross

Are you mixing up SA Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young (SHY) with Queensland One Nation Senator Pauline Hanson (PH)? I assume it was Pauline doing the right wing talking points. The media never cover Greens policies or opinions unless they are attacking them.

Damn it, you’re right! Edited my comment.

The media is one thing, but the silence from politicians is deafening. I haven't checked in the last day but on the 27th I only saw 4 representatives from WA even mention it.

It's honestly fucked. I'm not sure if I'm antisemitic (pretty sure I'm not) but the descripency in action drives me up the wall. For example, I'm hazy on details but a few years ago I believe some Jewish commentators / journalists messages got leaked, so there was then a change to legislation around doxxing etc. A bomb gets thrown amongst an indigenous group, reaction? shrugs

I'm on the East Coast and I've heard barely anything about it. Based on recent polling, seems like this is the kind of country quite a few of us want.

Yeah, the only place I've really heard about it in Vic is from the Instagram stories of someone in Perth that went to these rallies

The way they're calling it a "device" is pathetic. It was a bomb, no different to other terrorist attacks. It's an absolutely blessing it didn't go off.

This one would not be out of place as an opinion article in a regular paper.
