If the Democratic Party had half a brain they too would be calling for the immediate prosecution and abolition of ICE for violating the constitution. Instead we get seven house dems voting to approve their budget and we'll get some limp dick gesture from Senate dems before they cave like always.

We need more people like Kat primarying complacent party-machine dems in every state and at every opportunity. Take back the party from the DNC and shape it into an actually progressive party until we can get ranked choice and drop the current two party paradigm entirely.

If the Democratic Party had half a brain

Reverse Hanlon's razor. Don't attribute to stupidity what can only be explained by malice. They (kind of) know what they're doing.

Greetings, fellow cynic. I use this one quite a bit myself.

Ummm

This is the DNC

Thats her

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Until she's kicked out like Hogg.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Hogg left the party after he tried to undemocratically tip the scales of primary elections using his seat as VP on the DNC board and he was removed from the seat but not the party after it was brought to light that the election that put him on the board failed to follow longstanding anti-discrimination policy. He chose not to run for the seat a second time.

DNC Chair Ken Martin tried to compromise with Hogg before his removal, stating the DNC would remain neutral in all primary elections, and that Hogg could continue to support candidates in primaries as long as he did not do so using internal DNC records or funds, and Hogg refused.

Hogg was extremely moderate, saying his strategy was "winning back young voters who have drifted from the Democratic Party to Republicans".

Things you didn't have a problem with until Hogg. You certainly didn't have a problem when it was Cuellar.

DNC Chair Ken Martin tried to compromise with Hogg before his removal, stating the DNC would remain neutral in all primary elections

Which lasted until Mamdani ran against Cuomo.

You just cover your lies with more lies, its more effort for me to reffute you than you to just make up additional bullshit.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago (2 children)

None of what I said was a lie.

[–] monkeyjoe@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

The truth is a lie to Blue MAGA.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You accused the DNC of kicking Hogg out, then you accused me of supporting undemocratic actions in primaries, then you accused the DNC of primarying incumbent Cuomo with Mamdani which is an absolutely wild claim with no basis in reality.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You accused the DNC of kicking Hogg out

They did.

then you accused me of supporting undemocratic actions in primaries

You do.

then you accused the DNC of primarying incumbent Cuomo with Mamdani which is an absolutely wild claim with no basis in reality.

No, I'm saying that party leadership put their weight behind Cuomo when Mamdani ran against him in the primary. Try to pay attention to something other than the party's apologia.

You must be so disappointed that only 7 democrats voted with you on ICE.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

They removed Hogg from his seat on the private board to redo the election which put him in the seat because it did not follow longstanding party policy. Hogg chose not to participate in that redo election and left the party of his own accord.

The fact that you would try to lie to me after I already explained this to you once before shows you're just a compulsive liar.

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 0 points 1 week ago

They removed Hogg from his seat on the private board to redo the election which put him in the seat because it did not follow longstanding party policy.

Which they wouldn't have done at all if his independent organization hadn't been trying to get people to primary incumbents. The pretext doesn't matter; he was kicked out.

This is the same party that forced Harris on us without a primary. The same party that put its weight behind Cuellar, ostensibly because they protect incumbents, but their unwillingness to protect Cori Bush or Jamaal Bowman showed that to be a lie.

I really hope she wins.

Finally. Its not enough, not nearly enough, but it's a start.

[–] MehBlah@lemmy.world 11 points 1 week ago

Democrats worry about how they look to other way too much. They need to look at republican evil as evil and stop letting spineless trash get elected.

[–] JessyKenning@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Democrats Need To Change ~~How We Talk About ICE~~

There ftfy

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social -2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (3 children)

Kat, they voted to pay for the fascists. We are past criminalizing fascists. You are either on the ground helping us physically demolish ICE deathcamps and freeing victims, or you're the fascist press.

Real leadership is on the ground helping your neighbors. Not a platformed speech.

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 15 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (2 children)

Dem congressional candidate assaulted by ICE agent

Kat is one of the few people with a political spotlight that is doing something. Sure, she's a liberal trying to fix a broken system from within; but you can't say she is one to only give speeches and not participate in active resistance.

Try to remember, anyone who takes an active role in resistance and who isn't preventing other forms of resistance is an ally.

trying to fix a broken system from within

Ah, thanks for reminding why she is still at theatrics of protest that started 22 years ago.

political spotlight

I’d say political theatrics.

active role in resistance and who isn’t preventing other forms of resistance

Care to elaborate here? I would never prevent a liberal from making a fool of themselves, like Kat is exemplifying, but how do you actually resist 90% completion of fascism?

[–] CubitOom@infosec.pub 8 points 1 week ago (1 children)

If you don't understand the difference between resistance and obedience, then no. You aren't able to recognize an ally and I won't continue the conversation as I don't think it will be productive.

I'm sure you have fought, and suffered, a lot, yourself. But if you consider anyone who does any less than you your enemy, you will find yourself alone very quickly.

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 0 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Scroll down a tad. I am extremely aware others are unlike me, and incapable of my feats.

I have to ask, how many more broken by design systems do you need to be slammed to floor to to comprehend your tactics are completely ineffective?

Because I reasked myself several times, why would I waste my time, and praxis, talking to folks that both funded the fascists, and also killed minorities? What kind of liberal am I running for the party wanting to kill my constituents?

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Alright, I'll bite. What are you doing about this besides arguing with other leftists on a public forum. Kat is literally the definition of harm reduction. Her campaign contributions were soley from individual citizen donations. Those donations funded mutual aid and outreach to her community. She was fucking thrown to the ground and jailed protesting ICE. What is your praxis in the movement currently?

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

Cool, enjoy your emmigration. I don't see Doug leaving.

[–] monkeyjoe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

"No calling out their support of fascism!! My party good! Ignore they fund fascists!"

[–] AntiBullyRanger@ani.social 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)
[–] monkeyjoe@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I'm agreeing with you. I think the Dems who funded ICE for decades aren't going to dismantle it.

Then append a “— Kat Abughazaleh (2026-1-24),” otherwise it reads as if you were derisively projecting what I typed.

In threadiverse, for projected implications, most of us are using backticks+<. e.g.

<and Democrats vowed once again to get rid of the fascists if they get votes in midterms!!
