Whether it be electronics, automobiles or medical equipment, the manufacturers should not be able to horde โ€œoemโ€ parts, render your stuff useless if you repair it with aftermarket parts, or hide schematics of their products.

Shout-out @iFixit for their wonderful #pixel6a battery replacement kit and instructions.

My wife's phone was one of those that google throttled down because of problematic batteries.

I bought the kit from #ifixit, and, following their step by step instructions, I was able to open the phone, remove the battery, stick in the new battery, and put everything together (the shaped glue tape is fantastic). It took 2-3 hours, not easy, I have to say.

And it works, which I doubted until the end (because of low trust in my abilities, not quality of stuff)

My phone instead is a Fairphone 4... Battery replacement is... 1 minute. I can probably do it with 1 hand, blindfolded ๐Ÿ˜

@lgsp @iFixit @right2repair I might have to go this route because Ubreakifix put me on a waiting list for the alleged free battery replacement and I never heard back. I usually have to charge 2-3x/day depending on usage, which is very annoying. There's literally nothing else wrong with this phone and I could see myself using it for a couple more years at least but not with the battery crippled.

I bought the ifixit kit, worked great! First time repairing a glued phone, so I was a bit nervous, but with their guide and the kit it went smoothly. Took about an evening, and now by battery is better then when I first bought my phone.
