Blue Danube would probably throw me.

[–] elvith@feddit.org 1 points 1 month ago

Yeah but IIRC it’s like… 15-20 mins in? Doesn’t it start with the prehistoric apes, the arrival of the obelisk and how the obelisk advances their skills and they discover tools?

I watched the 1966 Batman movie at 1.5x on a PS3 and it was at a modern day pace

Is there a Gilmore Girls movie? Because if there’s a Gilmore Girls movie, then probably the Gilmore Girls movie.

[–] albbi@piefed.ca 8 points 1 month ago

Oh no, the dialog would be so fast it'd be unintelligible.

[–] BootLoop@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

The dialog is already so fast that the subtitles leave out words out because people can't read that fast. It were on 1.25x it would be difficult to understand.

[–] hungrycat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Well yes, the joke here is that they already talk so fast, who would notice a 25% bump in speed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-WTd7MEaN3Y

This seems like a prank Winston from New Girl would come up with.

Blues Brothers. For a musical comedy that movie starts slooow.

I routinely watch scrub movies on 1.5-1.75x speed while bopping around the house, multitasking cleaning and hobbies and pacing. It would be pretty darn tough for me to differentiate between 1.0x and 1.25x for a lot of movies as both are slower than what I frequently watch.

My most frequent rewatch is Ready or Not (2019) and I'm not sure id notice 1.25x speed at all.

(I do still sit down and watch at 1.0x speed new-to-me movies I care about, before anyone gets too twisted about my not appreciating art)

I like low dialogue movies, and some of those could possibly fit this. Two Lane Blacktop, maybe 2001: A Space Odyssey. The first doesn't have much (any?) music, but the second has a lot so that would be weird, but so would the dialogue.

Are you looking for movies to speed watch?

[–] xxce2AAb@feddit.dk 2 points 1 month ago

Anything made by Godfrey Reggio, probably. Although the tempo of the Glass score might be a bit of a giveaway.

This the short experiment film Wavelength 1967. But more recent Skinamarink 2022 that was largely influenced by Wavelength

I'd imagine pretty much anything more than 30 years old without popular music. I just rewatched They Live and I doubt I'd notice if it was at 1.25x.

[–] trolololol@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That one from Tarkovsky in the space could probably be played at 2x as long as there is no dialogue.

[–] flux@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Solaris. Yes this is a good answer.

[–] Midnattssol@feddit.nu 1 points 1 month ago

Last and First Men. The monologue is spoken so slowly that I think it would pass at 1.25x. Nothing in the visuals would give it away either.
