Pretty sure he'd be smugly gloating about it non-stop if anyone had even tried.

Sadly misinformation - not only did they roll out a literal red carpet, but this meme was from one second before the video feed pans over to the crowd waiting for him at the motorcade.
Not counting workers and secret service that looks to be about 10 people. Isn't that mostly going to be his staff or reporters. No "Welcome Mr. President".
Isn't the point of Davos that there is almost nobody there to "meet" anybody?
Reporters and the event organizers are all you'll get.

Don't know the makeup of the crowd (the footage I found cuts away a few seconds after this), but he was at shaking hands with at least the person in that screenshot.
edit: another angle, again unfortunately low quality.
further edit: he's behind the car in the alternate angle I found, so no better idea of who he's interacting with or for how long - however several people have vaguely greeting-a-dignitary body language. If they're staff or not I'm not sure, it's just too low quality and nobody has published an itinerary (that I can find) and the multiple reporters we can see have yet to release any images (again that I can find)
