I hate that AI has made it harder to enjoy code reviews. I know it's always been a common thing to have ripped code in a PR but at least it took a tiny bit of skill to adapt it properly to the codebase.

If I see a clever (and maintainable ofc) solution in a PR now I usually just assume it was AI that wrote it. This goes the other way too, if I write some code I'm proud of, I assume my reviewers will just assume it was generated :(

I stopped enjoying writing code completely, but its been interesting to watch everyone else who started to enjoy it MORE with Ai.

It seems to be a certain group of programmers who always were more motivated by getting the result out the door than the experience of putting code together in a certain way.

I suspect the era of high salaries as a programmer is over, since companies now feel they can replace people even easier.

That's what I've noticed to. Mm I have co worker who don't even read the code anymore. Full on vibe. Makes me so frustrated

Yeah it is but I guess there is nothing anyone can do about it now. People wont admit it but they know thats how most or all programmers will work in the future.

[Locked: duplicate issue]

Considering the post title I assume just copying code from open source projects (I hope with proper attribution and while following the license of the project, especially for copyleft code).

Is it stealing if that's why it's there?

Especially if you put a link in a comment for attribution.

I have yet to see AI-generated code that I would call clean or beautiful

[–] Rooster326@programming.dev 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Isn't that the point?

You wouldn't know it was AI generated.

It's like not seeing any Trans people who "look good" . Yeah no shit. The ones who do - are passing. That's the point.

[–] shinyrat@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 6 days ago (1 children)

That's a pretty shitty thing to say

[–] 5714@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Nah, they don't even do that.

[–] victorz@lemmy.world 7 points 6 days ago

You're right, the AI stole it indirectly. But you know what I mean. :-P

Can somebody inform me as to who's complementing vibe code as clean and beautiful.
