C'mon, it's not a neo-feudalist society, it's just a society where a planter class who does no actual labor owns the majority of the land and keeps the impoverished freemen of their surrounds utterly dependent on them politically and economically whilst maintaining a large workforce of unfree labor to undercut any attempts at the freemen achieving a decent wage for their excess labor!
