"As revolutionaries, we don't have the right to say that we're tired of explaining. We must never stop explaining. We also know that when the people understand, they cannot but follow us. In any case, we, the people, have no enemies when it comes to peoples. Our only enemies are the imperialist regimes and organizations." Thomas Sankara, 1985

Posting it here for future readers, since the channel is going to get axed:

Spooky Scary Socialist is over.

On January 15th, YouTube notified me that my second channel, dedicated to livestreaming, had been removed for violating its policy on violent organizations.

I was further surprised to learn that when a channel is terminated, all related channels will be subsequently terminated. Thus, my main channel which existed a number of years before the second channel, is slated for deletion.

I have already appealed the second channel’s termination, which was rejected in less than an hour. There is no further recourse given by YouTube to avoid termination, so my main channel is to be removed in the coming days or weeks.

I maintain and will maintain that the second channel’s termination is unfair, as the “violent organization” I discussed was in an educational context. Providing an overview of the news, academic scholarship, or polling about a "violent organization" should not be (and is not) a violation of the community guidelines. However, it seems that any discussion of Palestinian Resistance that doesn’t start and end with condemnation is a bannable offense on YouTube.

So, for now, Spooky Scary Socialist is over.

As I have always said, it is a risk to unapologetically speak out about the Palestinian Resistance. But the risks and consequences we face as content creators is infinitesimally smaller than the risks and consequences faced by Palestinian freedom fighters running up to and halting Zionist tanks of genocide. I will never condemn Palestinian orphans who grew up and choose the path of resistance.

🫡Spooky Scary Socialist

Evidence of the benefits of their work from the comments (never think educating doesn't matter):

You’re the person who introduced me to socialism. I could not be here without you. Farewell.

Absolutely same! I was like "sure let's listen to the other side, lol, gonna be dumb i bet" and then "wait shit this sounds logical and scientific... i guess i'll have to go in deeper in the rabbit hole to see if they can fully actually convince me", and not much later I was a socialist.

Your "Debunking Every Anti-Communist Argument Ever" reached me at just the right time in 2020. I'd read the Communist Manifesto, but only to dunk on it. 6 years later and I've read and watched so much more and consider myself a Marxist-Leninist. Thank you. ❤

I used to be just a vaguely anti-capitalist progressive, wary of "le scary gommunism". It wasn't until I encountered your debunking video 5 years ago, that I started interrogating more imperialist and Western chauvinist narratives. Being from the global south, I now take a more 3rd-worldist decolonial leaning.
I thank you for setting me on a journey that changed my life forever.

Also, fuck youtube's trash "moderation." It's clear to me from everything I've heard from creators on there that it's largely automated at this point. This is a good illustration of it:

I have already appealed the second channel’s termination, which was rejected in less than an hour.

There is no way they are that fast with real people making an actual judgment of a whole channel. That's not to say there wouldn't be bias issues still if it was people doing it, but it'd be harder for them to justify such sweeping bullshit that wipes away years of history on a whim.

Edit: fixing copy/pasted links that got cut off

Hey, is Tankie Tube downloadable or would I have to use it via browser?

[–] ExotiqueMatter@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 1 day ago

You can use Pipepipe or Newpipe to watch Tankietube, you just have to change the settings to fetch peertube videos from the Tankietube instance instead of Youtube.

Another example of capitalist free speech.

The very notion of analyzing Hamas or anyone that the US declares as "terrorists" is treated with the same contempt as Holocaust denial. Thought termination has got to be the thing that infuriates me the most about anti-communists. The refusal to even entertain opposing viewpoints to empire, instead choosing to take state department narratives at face value, EVEN WHEN THEY KNOW THE STATE DEPARTMENT IS LYING.

Like I know people who go could go on for an hour about how bullshit the western media coverage around Palestine is, but then go on to repeat the state departments talking points for a bunch if other issues.

They'll still say things like "Hamas is an antisemetic fundamentalist movement, even if they aren't as bad as Israel" which is mind boggling to me.

Like once I was with a comrade at an organized protest, a relatively chill affair mind you, and this supposedly leftist supporter came around to us and sat down. Me, the comrade, and this leftist, get to talking, obviously about politics, and are giving a healthy discussion. Then at one point the "leftist" offhandidly makes a remark tangentially related to the DPRK, something about Kim Jung Un killing his brother/unce or whatever with nerve poison.

My comrade gently pushes back with something like "I'm not sure that is true" which earns a confident declaration that it's been confirmed. Again my comrade pushed forward asking "confirmed by who? A lot of the stuff that's aud about the DPRK comes straight from the US". Instead of potentially thinking about the claim they had made just prior and its source, our "leftist" friend replies with "I'm sorry, are you defending North Korea?"

Immediately, they chose to terminate even the concept that perhaps my comrade was correct. The three of us were at a protest for Palestine, we'd discussed the media campaign used the the US and Israel to obfuscate the truth of genocide. For all otents and purposes this individual should have been well accustomed to the atrocity propaganda tactics of the US.

Yet when it came time to confront their own beliefs, faced with allies who've clearly demonstrated an understanding of political analysis, they shoved their head in the sand.

My comrade tried to reiterate that our leftist friend might want to examine the sources to their claims, but is unfortunately most with a "just becuase they oppose the US doesn't make North Korea not a horrible dictatorship."

Now, when it comes to Hamas, I'd be confident in saying that the thought termination isn't nearly as bad. After the Nazi like actions of Israel, I've found that most people who aren't explicit zionists are willing to hear a fair analysis if Hamas, going so far as to ask follow up questions in good faith. The Palestinian resistance being declared a taboo subject is only in the realm of capitlist owned media platforms.

When you can confidently speak on the topic of Palestinian resistance, which I've become capable of doing, the average US denizen, will genuinely hear out your thoughts if their willing to stomach political topics.

Only zionist true believers will try and contest you, but if your in public, it's quite easy to humiliate their genocidal logic to on lookers. Otherwise, engaging with a zionist isn't a worthwhile endeavor, as it will only cause you to lose hope in humanity.

This paragraph is interesting technology, it raised my blood pressure remotely. Well, it's more respectable to just admit when you don't know something, I wish people would do this more. I keep running into the same kind of stuff with people's attitudes about Maduro, Iran, etc.

[–] Malkhodr@lemmygrad.ml 8 points 1 day ago

It's interesting becuase even when I'm aware that another person is wrong about a topic, one that they still know more about, I still interogate their thought process.

For example, I'm not an expert on Moroccan-Algerian politics, however I have people close to me who are Moroccan. Recently I was at a celebration where I got to interact with many of these people, largely all relatives or inlaws of eachother. I'm aware that Morocco is a western puppet, however I'm not well enough informed to make definitive statements on the matter, especially considering the people who were around me.

Anyways, I managed to breach the topic of Ibrahim Traore, who was universally popular among the people there. Atone point I briefly mentioned the AES having had interactions with Algeria, which obviously struck a chord with a more nationalist Moroccan.

This person, went on to explain various different events and their perspective on it. Now, I was aware that they definitely had a tilted view of Morocco as some pan-african bastion, mainly due to their exploration into realms that I was more familiar with. Yet, I still engaged with this person in order to better learn their perspective and perhaps construct an understanding that was actually legitimate rather than a campaign to glorify the Moroccan king.

Frankly I don't understand why western leftists refuse to even engage with different view points. Even if you have a vast knowledge of the topic, understanding how someone with a different experience has come to understand that topic, even if less refined, is very useful to learning about propaganda. The problem is they're usually not as aware of their own ignorance, yet they assume anyone countering it is somehow malicious.

That Moroccan Nationalist was not inherently malicious, his live of the AES proves to me that he had a genuine interest in African sovereignty in his heart, yet he was still affected by propaganda counter intuitive to his goal.

Another person I'd spoken with at the celebration was an avowed supported of Elon Musk, yet he also engaged with me, and agreed that China has a system worth learning from, along with praising Ghadaffi as an exceptional leader whom he loved more than any other.

Was his support of Musk obviously atrocious? Yes, however he'd not even read Ghadaffi, which I highly suggested he did. That is a person who is interested in hurting their working class interest. It was someone who did not have the resources to better understand systematic critique.

I'm blessed to be able to properly discuss the theory and application of Communism in a Muslim gathering and be met with good faith inquires. Yet among fellow "leftists" it can be like speaking to a brick wall.

Apologies for the rant, but I felt like relaying my experience with different ideological actors.

Noo, I love his content! Hopefully he moves to fedi.

I fear if he moved to peertube, it would be harder for him to make content due to the lack of revenue, which is a big reason why creators struggle moving to peertube. Though he might have had issues with monetization on YouTube anyway.

Jfc how bleak. I just found this guy and thought it was great how frequently he started to upload recently. He had only just started getting the ball rolling again and he's deleted for the crime of having a Hamas video, I guess.

[–] redbear@lemmygrad.ml 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Is anyone able to backup his videos? We need to safe them.
