Critical support for a “no politics” filter that just gives you a 100% blank feed.

Everything is political, but not everything is about politics. Generally anything that mentions a government should come under such a filter.
If it’s political, sounds like politics to me
frankly, i disagree with the "everything is politics" proverb. if i talk about ATP synthase, i don't consider it politics.
Imagine thinking science isn’t politics. There’s literally an “Evolution” heading on that page and you think ATP synthase isn’t woke?
ATP synthase also happens during sleep.
damn, now you’ve gone and really made this political
Couldn't someone just browse by subscribed if they want to curate their feed?
But I agree that, if communities could tag themselves by subject/category, there could be options to subscribe or block tags for people who like to browse the All feed.

I agree with you, but it's actually a complaint I've seen often, so I guess lots of people browse All
PieFed has a feature like this and it's well received
I tried piefed a while ago, liked the tags, but think they should be mandatory. I'm just not a big fan of the sign-up wizard, multi-coms or general vibe. Would still be cool if Lemmy had tags.
The only way I see something like this working is if communities had tags. Each community would select from a list of pre-determined tags based on the content posted there. Then, at any time, users can then block tags as they see fit.
There would have to be some incentive to encourage communities to add the tags once they are implemented. The most fair way I can think of is to have a "None" tag that every community gets by default. Instances, or even apps can choose to hide untagged communities by default, and users can choose to hide them too. The incentive would come from the potential loss of visibility by not tagging your community.
maybe the instance admin can "force-flag" communities as political if the community mods refuse to do so themselves ...
Where wood you draw the line determining what is political and what isn't?
that is indeed a good question. maybe if the community self-identifies as political? or maybe a majority vote? Or maybe it depends on the instance that you're using? (something that the server admin can configure)
Also know as grill mode
It blocks 4 communities. Hardly seems worth it. Would love one of each for sports and memes which would need something close to what feels like a hundred communities for each.
Needs a "politicalmemes" community, and a rule banning political memes from memes.
I mean im not 100% sure but there are like so many specific meme communities I gotta think there already is a politcal memes.
there already is a politicalmemes community, it's the only politics community i haven't banned because it's the only one that actually manages to make me laugh :P
lol. I think you edited it as I swear I saw apolitical and was like. what???
