There has always been a cohort of fans who have wondered what Freelancer might have looked like if Roberts realised his initial vision.

I happen to have an image of what that game would have looked like right here:

Don't see anything? Exactly. Because it never would have been finished.

Also that typo in the title...

That's a funny typo!

I wonder how Freelancer would have worked out with Early Access. Star Citizen isn't it since you have to be logged in to their server to play it and Squadron 42 is apparently going to be linear, regressing back to the Wind Commander series style of doing games.

Saved you a click: It uses AI voice actors.

I'm torn about your comments. On one side voice ai is destroying the industry. Ok the other side it's a free fan made mod...

Because it’s a fan made mod, I have absolutely no problem with it.

Personally, I'd much rather hear an oddly-intoned human voice than a nondescript, anodyne robot.

An oddly intoned voice would be in keeping with the original. The voice acting was B-movie bad and hilarious.

Hope this doesn't go down the route of Microsoft seeing the demand that exists and sending cease and desists without bothering to make a decent rerelease.
