A strange game. Only winning move is not to play.

much thanks to @gary_host_laptop for the logo design :)
Maybe we should watch more a certain movie as it feels like we have largely forgotten that wise advice.

Honestly, just ditch Instagram already. And convince your friends and family to do the same. It's better for your time, your privacy and mental health. The demise of these platforms starts with people like you and me never visiting these places all together.
You've got to know what you want with Instagram and don't fall for the algorithm.
I use a throwaway account and only follow stand-up comedians so I can scroll through and watch some comedy.
As soon as a video pops up in the feed that isn't stand up I shut it down.
I, too, follow a lot of comedians on IG, but I'm noticing a problem lately: there are soooooo many recommendations that I hardly see the ones I follow intentionally. Like I get that the business model is addiction+distraction, but it seems like it's undercutting its own business.
Not really possible. Ditch Instagram.
To view and view alone, use an alt fronend - https://imginn.com/ You can "follow" by bookmarking the users within the frontend.
For everything else, just make a sockpuppet account or buy an account if you can find a reputable site (lol) selling aged accounts. You might be able to buy 10 for $40 or something and 1 might really work.
The discover page won't work without an account because the algorithm is defined by the account.
there's also Instander for mobile
Instander still works, but it has fallen victim to the bus factor (the sole developer the_dise was reportedly KIA)
Just installed it to see, login is still required
Is that site legit? It used to be https://thedise.me/instander but it's been down for a while and thedise was only sharing very sporadic updates via telegram.
Thank you for the only helpful response...
I am not an expert and I think this falls at the first hurdle because a login is required to view more than the latest post or two.
Here is how I use it: you take an old device that you never installed Insta on, run it under a burner account at the OS level, run a kill switch VPN on it (preferably always on the same server), and then create an account on Insta that you're ready to ditch the moment they want your ID. That device doesn't do anything else than Insta.
Sorry but why do you even need nstagram?
You could try an alternative front-end for Instagram. I haven’t used them since I avoid the platform altogether, but I found this thread on the topic.
https://rss-bridge.org/ does a somewhat acceptable job at it if you look from the perspective of someone who used the app before, or an outstanding job if you come from the perspective of someone who never had an account and clicked links to instagram only to see giant popups and errors.
Damn talk about an oxymoron..
