edit, i dunno, felt iffy - kept the comment for hyperlinksrespectfully, i wish to express my wariness about the expressing of this joke. i know it a mocking of ice agents, but there is something that bothers me about this comment.

i remember watching crutches and spices on tiktok, talking about how RW media has a tendancy to make their positions normal by making them into jokes and dissolving all context (think the change my mind meme).

there is also this article suggesting that irony poisoning is counter productive to leftist movements, because we rely on genuine people relationships - and the many coated layers of irony erodes our humanity in a way.

I don't think this is an example of irony. They aren't talking about it being good, merely stating the fact which we understand is sick. It's like joking about cops being dog-shooting domestic abusers, the point is to normalize the idea that these forces are incredibly violent, not normalizing that such a thing being okay is an acceptable opinion. It's a good thing to promote to counter the narratives about them being valiant or helpful.

my thoughtsperhaps it is me projecting(my default humor being based in many layers of irony), i don't know if merely normalizing the idea of a force being extremely violent is enough. there is this gamble here that if enough people are merely aware, something will change - however is there is another possibility where it becomes a social norm, think school shootings (south park had an episode on school shootings where the gag was that everybody reacted nonchalantly to the shooting except for the mother)

i understand the perspective that the meme is to snap the general public out of it's trance, which is a good thing, as most legacy media is trying to massage this as justified.

no heat for the poster, whatever will happen is determined by the larger culture, than a individual

my concern is that once we develop a hegemonic consensus that ICE is extremely violent, are the human beings in the population well adjusted to correct this measure? or will we have allowed for the hegemonic culture to accept for ice to be more violent (not that revolution would happen instantly but the consciousness is gradually raised)

we may understand it is sick, in the context of this left unity website, but will that sentiment echo if i posted this meme to another groupchat in discord?
