Ebikes, bicycles, scooters, skateboards, longboards, eboards, motorcycles, skates, unicycles, heelies, or an office chair: Whatever floats your goat, this is all things micromobility!

"Transportation using lightweight vehicles such as bicycles or scooters, especially electric ones that may be borrowed as part of a self-service rental program in which people rent vehicles for short-term use within a town or city.

micromobility is seen as a potential solution to moving people more efficiently around cities"

It's a little sad that we need to actually say this, but:

Don't be an asshole or you will be permanently banned.

Respectful debate is totally OK, criticizing a product is fine, but being verbally abusive will not be tolerated.

Focus on discussing the idea, not attacking the person.

This post is missing some link or content...

[–] _haha_oh_wow_@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 days ago

Thanks for pointing this out: It looks like a problem between Lemmy and Mbin. We are looking into it now.

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 1 points 5 days ago (3 children)

You have to click on the title, not the picture

https://www.topspeed.com/the-one-bike-culture-trend-thats-quietly-taking-over-cities/

Edit: It looks like there is an issue with the link working properly on Lemmy instances. We were troubleshooting this but this shit isn't my job and some folks are being dicks so I'll work on this if and when I have the time and motivation.

If anyone else out there wants to volunteer their time as well and get the info we found so far to the devs of Lemmy and Mbin, go for it! If anyone wants to downvote or complain, they can go pound sand.

Edit 2: A report has been submitted. Thank you to everyone who helped troubleshoot this.

Title clicking doesn't work here on Jerboa client.
Just use the standard way to link content...

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io -2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Sounds like the Jeroba client is broken and the developers should probably be notified. I did not do anything unusual to post this article.

Someone else having this issue is using Voyager and another is using old.lemmy.world+Firefox - this might be a Lemmy and/or Mbin issue.

Love that I'm getting downvotes trying to help get this fixed though. Why bother? Shit, maybe I won't.

Edit: I did anyways. Guess I won't let let a couple of assholes ruin things for everyone else.

Doesn't work on web instance (discuss.tchncs.de) via Firefox either.
Just checked.

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 2 points 5 days ago

Ok, thanks! We're working to see under what circumstances it breaks now. Hopefully we can use all this info to help the the devs get this working better across instances/platforms.

I'm on a Lemmy instance (sh.itjust.works) with the standard interface, the link and picture both go to the picture so it looks like it is a problem with Lemmy or Mbin, not just apps. I was able to replicate it in multiple browsers.

Can you try reposting this from your Lemmy account to see if that makes a difference? Given what we're seeing so far I think it might be an issue on Mbin's side.

Neither link to anything for me (but yes, the link in your comment works)

You've linked to a picture of a motocycle, not the article that the image was presumably from.

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The article link is there, but you have to click on the title. The autopreview Lemmy makes is just a picture.

Edit: It looks like this is an actual bug with Mbin posting to Lemmy instances that happens sometimes. A report has been submitted to the dev.

[–] Delta_V@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago) (1 children)

Clicking on the title just opens a bigger picture than the one visible in the preview.

This is the URL that the title links to: https://fedia.io/media/bf/74/bf740f1fa0ab32bd7046f21371cf3c2c25827190a8031768aa58039fd766d42f.jpg

Note the ".jpg"

Hmm, the title links to https://www.topspeed.com/the-one-bike-culture-trend-thats-quietly-taking-over-cities/ for me on Mbin. Are you on an app or the .world website? Any custom UI in use?

[–] litchralee@sh.itjust.works 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

As another data point, in the Thunder mobile app for Lemmy, there is no link in the post, just the thumbnail.

[–] reseller_pledge609@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Same here. You're commenting from sh.itjust.works and I'm commenting from lemmy.dbzer0.com.

Whether this is due to our lemmy instances or our app I'm not too sure.

[–] FartsWithAnAccent@fedia.io 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Another person said they were on the old.lemmy.world instance and Firefox with the same issue so it sounds like it isn't exclusive to apps. I think it might be a problem between Mbin and Lemmy. This might take a coordinated effort between the devs of both.

That sounds about right. Here's hoping it gets sorted soon.

[–] Delta_V@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago* (last edited 5 days ago)

I'm using old.lemmy.world & Firefox.
