that tummy needs tickling π
Second day back at work, called into boss's office and told they're not renewing my contract into a permanent role. Two years at this workplace, pushing myself to my absolute limit, but I guess because I don't regularly work past 5 (coming in well before anyone else mind you), I'm not keeping my job.
It'll be fine in the long run. We have some savings. But goddamn. Not looking forward to going on Jobseeker, hopefully I can get something quick.
Start acting your wage. Fuckem. They broke the code first.
Won't lie, definitely considering completely slacking off between now and my last day. After all, they don't intend to keep me, so why put my all in?
They've curated exactly the sort of loyalty they want, after all
FOUR HOURS
Edit: there's something so freeing, liberating, about standing on the balcony in my birthday suit. It's the small things in life, really.
I like having a shower then standing outside with my turkish towel in the wind to dry. (Like Felicia on top of the bus in Priscilla, Queen of the desert style).

Yassss QUEEN π
Few weeks ago was stung by a bee and yesterday bitten by a bullant and I want to share w/ everybody my scientific findings:
EDIT:

Not so fun event first aid tent visit: getting lemon juice treatment for a bullant bite to the butt
7 hours until 10pm, when BoM says it will be 23Β°C.
I'm comprised almost entirely of cold European climate genes, I wasn't built for this π«
Finally my sahara desert infused DNA pays off
Same, Iβm not going back out there
Weird. Temp just dropped almost 10 degrees where I am.
Edit:
Guess where the perfect aircon spot in the bedroom is.

Bundaberg brewed lemon & watermelon lightly sparkling low sugar cans are the bomb this weather. I am in love. Available at Cheaper Buy Miles.
Just a PSA that a bunch of library services around Melbourne and Vic are running extended hours today to provide cool spaces for people. I know Mooney Ponds and Hobsons Bay are so assume a lot of them are doing the same.
Arrived at work. Over 500 emails awaiting my attention (or lack thereof). Pray for me.
I'm eating leftovers for dessert

Apricot sorbet, made with eggwhite leftover from custard and the leftover sugar syrup my apricots were cooked in. Worked really well and very creamy.
Watermelon straight out of the fridge is sooo refreshing on hot days.
Grapes too.
Cherries also
And lycheeβs!
About to make the 25m PT trip home. Looking forward to the smells of armpits and sweaty bumcracks
I don't get sunburned but even I'm feeling a bit hot under the collar.
Edit: put the washing out without thongs on concrete and I think my feet are burnt lol
Good luck today everyone π€stay safe out there.
Jesus Christ it's still meant to be 41 at 7pm π« π« π«
I just saw that! And Friday is shaping up to be a real danger day too. I convinced (didn't take much) my whole team to WFH for the rest of the week at least (unless someone needs the A/C). About to go for a quick swim then lock down.
It's definitely a mix at my work, people wanting to come in for the Air con (or just free air con) and people who absolutely don't wanna fuck with PT today
Leaving the gym earlier, there was a ridiculous line (easy 100 people deep) waiting to get into the crowded indoor pools that are part of the complex. Having to wait for people to leave before letting a new group in. The line snaked around outside too, all these people waiting in the heat for crowds and craziness. No thank you.
At that point, stand in the shower.
That's absolutely crazy. It seems like a great idea, but a line like that would have me scurrying for a library, shopping centre, gym, etc!
To Catfish. Um, could you please take the suncatcher down temporarily - it's working just a little too well atm.
Dog seems much better. Got a big morning walk in and just finished a big evening walk (carried him over the hot roads). I'll still talk about it with the vet in case.
Bought the kids a tent from BCF. I knew it was heavily discounted because it's so big but that's part of the fun. My girlfriend also absolutely HATES it because it's so big, which makes it even more fun
Ohhβ¦ little stinker! I was fretting about all the crying and thinking the worst but likely itβs Melbcat demanding more pieces of the beef from the broth. She insists on having it now.
Before that it was probably frustration that I wasnβt understanding and lifting her onto the chair, and notification that sheβd done a poo.
Iβve spoiled the cat
Aaaaand the warehouse team has hit hot grumpy point. Doesn't help hearing that my partner's work has shut for the day and sent everyone home early. And that the two men in the warehouse with me ate super spicy noodles on a hot day. I went out earlier and stocked up the fridge with zooper doopers, hydralite icy poles and other goodies on the company dime.
At least I can retreat to my office and enjoy the aircon (there is also aircon in the warehouse office, I'm not fully abandoning them).
Home time soon. Pros: going home. Cons: getting into the car which is sitting outside in full sun.
Building fire flagged down the road, four trucks responded very, very quickly but it doesn't seem like anything is happening, thank fuck.
I really should go to bed, as I start work again tomorrow. Don't wanna - enjoying the coolth ahead of tomorrow. Still, work does have aircon, it's just the pt trip there and back that's going to be a horror show. Waaaaaaah.
Hope everyone is keeping cool as much as humanly possible.
I am physically fine (apartment A/C is holding up and I am free to work here all week and not in a fire area) but I'm really jumpy today. I dunno if its just because I am back at work too soon or if I have just lived through too many general disasters + my general climate anxiety. I keep thinking I'm missing something and wanting to check here and the other place and vic emergency. Maybe its just the lack of natural light from closed blinds. Going to put some ambient music on and try to focus....
Plants are watered & cooling is on. Pray to the electricity gods no power outages and to the appliance gods no aircon breakdowns. Hopefully you are all staying cool at work or home or elsewhere.
Itβs a hot oneβ¦ like seven inches from the midday sun ποΈ
