Holy shit 400 email per week on lowest tier. One would have to write 10 emails per hour so you would be writing nothing but email all the time

[–] yermaw@sh.itjust.works 109 points 6 days ago (1 children)

Emails received. If youre going to CC me on everything youll run out of allowance in no time

I had a colleague who deliberately ignored anything that didn't have his name in the To: field.

Sometimes it bit him on the rear, metaphorically speaking, but most of the time it worked. To everyone else's annoyance.

but that's the thing, there's nothing I need to do if it isn't addressed to me. thank you for giving me the opportunity to be aware of whatever it is, but I no longer care because I am not rewarded or compensated for going above and beyond, so I won't be. and reading emails that aren't addressed to me is not a requirement.

[–] LNRDrone@sopuli.xyz 5 points 5 days ago

Yeah, that's how I do it at work. Anything not specifically sent to me will go into one of my extra folders. I don't often look at most of these until I ran out of other work, which very rarely happens.

[–] Eheran@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago

Hm? But that is okay, CC is only like "note this happened and read if you want"? What else is CC supposed to be if not that? Why not put people in the "to" if you need their input?

[–] blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 6 points 5 days ago (1 children)

That's how it's supposed to work though...

[–] palordrolap@fedia.io 0 points 5 days ago (2 children)

If that's how it's supposed to work, there'd be no point in the CC field at all, would there?

CC is not for ignoring. It's for your information even if you're not an intended participant in the conversation. i.e. you're supposed to at least read it.

[–] blockheadjt@sh.itjust.works 5 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Eh, I see it as more of a "if you come across a need for this information, it is searchable to you, but response is not expected."

[–] ranzispa@mander.xyz 2 points 5 days ago

I use CC quite a lot. People in the CC are supposed to read the email because it is in their interest, even though they don't need to reply.

E.g.

To: Graphic Designer Cc: Programmer, Middle Manager We considered the three options that you gave us. We decided to go with option 2 because option 1 was too technically complicated to implement and the big boss didn't like the color of option 3. Please, send the assets to Programmer and forward your invoice to Middle Manager.

It's a carbon copy for archival. That shit might show up when you're searching your inbox, so it still makes sense. I automatically shove all mails where I'm in Cc into a separate folder and skim through it once a week maybe. If you want me to do something, then please address me directly. If you're not capable of that, then you should perhaps look for a different job.

They having mailing lists. Everything is "to" those lists where you belong to.

[–] dracs@programming.dev 22 points 6 days ago

This amount obviously includes automated emails sent on your behalf by Jira and Confluence. Of course also a tiny *Up to 400 in the fine print.

Reality:

  • Basic $2000
  • Standard $2000
  • Premium $2000

And if you're lucky to have a union, they fight for raising that by $10, with employers pushing back for every cent.

[–] Pechente@feddit.org 23 points 6 days ago

And if you offer Premium, they’ll drown you in work while your Basic colleagues will just push off any responsibility so that it will eventually end up on your desk anyway. Not worth it.

- Poop breaks per month or day?
- It's a propreitery time-measurement standard.

are you taking a break to poop or are you taking a break from pooping? know how to work the wording.

[–] underscores@lemmy.zip 13 points 5 days ago (1 children)

all 40 hours ? disgusting, the lower tiers should start at way fewer hours

[–] Ibuthyr@lemmy.wtf 6 points 5 days ago

For real! Unions are the answer. I work 35h a week, have 30 days of vacation per year and an additional 6 days off, that can also be transformed into money instead. But fuck Money, 6 days more freedom is where it's at! I still make 85-95k€ annually.
