Pretty sweet, with boards and lights and everything. Must've taken a lot of work

I've never skated in a backyard rink. Is that a thing somewhere?
It was more common growing up in Minnesota for one of the neighbor kids to have a backyard rink. Though they weren't really necessary, since we have plenty of dedicated rinks in parks already, and some parks even turn their baseball field into an ice rink.
What a great idea for the baseball field. I grew up in the midwest and I can't believe we didn't think of any of this.
The baseball fields are always real rough lol. They tend to be filled once in the middle of the season, and then maybe shoveled off after a big snow fall. You would bring your own shovel though if you planned on stopping lol.
The parks generally had the nicer rinks, some even with a warning up area though those were much more rare.
Worse case scenario, we've got a hockey rink like every 10 miles, you just find one with open/free skating or pay a few bucks haha.
All that and free healthcare too, I'm jealous.
Hah I wish. Not unless Canada annexes us, which I'm perfectly A-Ok with.
Oh I thought you were a different commenter and were in Canada. Come on Canada, wouldn't you like some more summer months? Start annexing.
It's a thing everywhere in Canada. Or at least everywhere north of Toronto nowadays #globalwarming
Is or used to be in New England #globalwarming
Canada - the colder parts. It used to be more common, but now most neighbourhoods (in my city) have a really nice outdoor rink that's well maintained so not as many homes do it anymore.
That shit looks better than this years winter classic.
If I had the ability to create a rink in my backyard with nice lighting I’d probably be pretty comfortable, too.
But yea that looks super slick so fuckin’-A.
How the hell? You built this!? Are there more pictures?
This is the neighbours.
I remember getting schooled at hockey by these Canadian kids. They couldn't have been more than 8 years old. I was in college. Gave up whatever hockey ambitions I had that day.
Do you have memories of some no-bucket pre-tween in a Mackinaw laying a shoulder into the panic button below some collegiate's sternum and makin him see the white buffalo? Because I'd watch that. ;-)
Ey man, I don't kink shame, so you do you!
