Just remember IBM helped the nazis in Germany by producing a punch card system to track and exterminate Jews.
History may not repeat, but it often rhymes.
Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil
Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.
2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.
Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Google is hosting a CBP app that uses facial recognition to identify immigrants, while simultaneously removing apps that report the location of ICE officials because Google sees ICE as a vulnerable group. “It is time to choose sides; fascism or morality? Big tech has made their choice.”
Happy 1984! /s
Happy 1939
1984 had some resistance, while we have absolutely none of that
That's not true at all. Some of the biggest protests in US history have happened as a result of this shit. People are fucking with ICE operations and courts are throwing out charges against those protestors on a daily basis.
And there's a growing resistance building among current and former military members, but they're keeping quiet about it because it's really fucking stupid to make your resistance plans public knowledge.
It might not be happening fast enough for your liking, but the resistance is absolutely there.
That already happened when people willingly paid for telescreens to spy on them.
I can't wait until I can walk out. It's become an absolutely miserable company to work for. They used to be so much better.
Did the remove the slides? I bet they removed the slides.
Google was all about producing products people were excited about, from search that was useful to improving browsers and email and setting standards, they even started Let's Encrypt which makes the web safer every day. They've contributed so much positive technology, and they were eager to try new things that inspired alternatives even as Google killed their own implementation.
Then they focused on cloud and found huge investments from Nazi regimes, they removed "don't be evil", and became evil.
It wasn't just the fun perks at the office, googlers used to be excited about the work they do. Now they get fired for expressing concern about producing products for Nazis.
It's the wrong side, isn't it? 😮💨
Edit: Of course it is.
Is the side money? I bet it's money.
~~Don't be evil~~
Do the right thing (for shareholders)
Can I use Signal on GrapheneOS?
Yes. I run Signal on Graphene.
Yes, i See no reason why this shouldnt work, even without Google services installed it should work (but notifcations dont work properly, for that you could consider Molly and their unifiedPush implementation)
Although I use Molly myself and it's quite great, I never had issues with Signal's notifications on GrapheneOS, LineageOS, or CalyxOS.. Definitely stick with Molly, if you can!
Yes, and for added security, you could sign into Signal through Molly, for example
Who knew that one of the subscription billionaires would do exactly what everyone thought?
Is this surprising to anyone??
oh huh I wonder what side
They're a for-profit corporation. They will support whatever makes them money. There are no good or bad for-profit corporations. They only do exactly what they were designed to do. That being said, their employees and shareholders DO have a choice, and CAN be held responsible.
And that's why I've switched to LineageOS with microg
Glad I chose to never use Google products years ago
