It started from the left side of the screen to toe right and I don't know how to fix it (if it can even be fixed)

  1. Are the OSD menus affected by this?
  2. Try a single input source
  3. Try a different cable
  4. Try different inputs and see if all are affected

If nothing changes, then it's probably damaged. Honestly, #1 pretty much says it's a problem with the panels or voltage regulators.

ah ok, thanks. when i get home il check it and replace the hdmi cable if i need to

Have you tried power cycling it? Unplug the power cable from the monitor for 15 seconds and plug it back in. I've got a monitor that occasionally displays an really distorted image, and power cycling has fixed it every time (I've had it for like 9 years and it's been doing it for at least 7 years).

I've seen a similar glitch before, but the culprit was a VGA cable not plugged in firmly enough.

Since you're using HDMI, I'd probably start with reinstalling the graphics driver on your laptop.

i used to reinstall it every day when i played fallout 4 because without doing that, it would show a black screen. i think i need to get a new monitor

The last bullet you have is play this in video in full screen several minutes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VN-KIlsxxOw. It really works.
