General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Farmer's aren't like the rest of us though. They have strong representation in Parliament and know how to cause a fuss. The rest of us just suck it up and do what we're told because the government knows we're till overs 🥲. Merry Christmas.

I'm not even mad at the farmers over this issue specifically. I'm more mad at rich folks like Jeremy Clarkson who've used the law meant for farmers to get out of paying their share of inheritance tax. This law became a necessity not because of farmers but instead capitalist freaks who tangentiality fucked over farmers for their own gains.

It's not even the farmers paying, it's their heirs. Have a farmer as a parent, get a double-sized unearned windfall when they drop off their perch.

The fact that Starmer and Reeves couldn't make this argument is yet another sign of how shit they are at communication.

Real question is. If the farm is a business. Then why are farmers refusing to place the land in the LTD.

Answer because this is already taxed in a different way to non property owning businesses.

So yep farm owners are all makeing a choice. They are trying to save tax on a operational basis. And now that choice means they choose to lose the value when they die. As a LTD would be an independent entity and passed without personal taxation. Much like a trust dose.
