I got the call centre job lol! Starting mid January.

Gonna be so flush with my a-bit-higher-than-minimum-wage wage, way more than Centrelink lol. I'll actually be able to pay rent without going broke for half a month every month

[–] tone212_@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Amazing! Congrats, what a good xmas present.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

I know right! Couldn't be happier to be thrown off the unemployed wagon lol!

Everything is coming up Milhouse

I had emergency surgery a couple of days ago, and I've been home trying my best to recover but this is a new level of body horror I was not prepared for. I'm so glad the whole thing was free though, and the hospital stay was genuinely quite pleasant (I got lucky and ended up with a private room).

Here's hoping I get through the next couple of weeks without any complications, I just want this thing to be over and done with.

That's rough. Hope everything goes well and you can recover without drama.

If anything does go wrong there's always your local Urgent Care but I'm sure you won't need it. You can just walk in. No need for an appointment.

Merry Christmas to you Sasha ❀️

I'm glad it went well and you're resting now! That sounds terrifying!

[–] Eagle@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

Time is the best healer. Hoping you have help, if not anything not essential to daily life can wait. Rest is important, and you can't rush it.

[–] SaneMartigan@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I hope you have people to help.

Damn, it's time to get ready for work already. Hopefully it will be a cruisy shift and I don't have to work too hard. So if you guys could do your best not to set things on fire, crash your cars or get your cat stuck up a tree that would be great.

I've gotten a handle on doing all the Christmas stuff.

I think all the presents have been bought, just have to organise and wrap

all the food is ready to be prepped, Turkey and chicken pieces are in the freezer ready for Saturday

tomorrow's food is easy, just burgers and trifle , 2 x shortbread is made, I will bring half the panettone I made , only because it's so big I won't be able to finish it.

house is super organised and 95% clean already πŸ‘

Time to work! Looks like everyone's out doing their food shop today. Also the husbands who don't know what to get their wives.

[–] Alamutjones@aussie.zone 8 points 4 months ago

Watching the market melt down this morning was glorious. My viewpoint from my apartment overlooks the fish market...it was like someone had kicked an ant's nest

One of the best part about this time of year is looking forward to watching Dinner for One on NYE. It makes me cry laugh everytime.

Found some drinking glasses the other day. Couldn't decide between the high ballers or the tumblers so I bought them both. Didn't need them and now I have to find room for them. They was Christmas present to myself.

[–] melbaboutown@aussie.zone 7 points 4 months ago

I cannot stop sleeping. Guess my body needs it, but it would be nice to sleep at the right time. And not fall asleep before I can drink some fluids πŸͺ🌡

At my folks' place. Next door's teenage daughter just dropped off a plate of gingerbread men.

She's a lovely kid, that one

No viking rampages today, I went on a poisonous rampage in the garden instead. All the naughty grass that has snuck its way through the cardboard in the garden beds has now been sprayed. The worst bindii infested patch of naturestrip has had selective poison put on it, and the worst of the broadleaf weeds there have been sprayed too.

I was happy to see the climbing bean seeds I thought had failed have now sprouted. Some of the tomato plants didn't cope with the hot days and have died, but I have a few more seedlings that are still ok to replace them with and all the cherry tomatoes look to have made it. It doesn't look like any of the cucumber seeds have managed to sprout though, so I don't think I'm getting any of those this year.

The wine has been poured. The eyelids are already heavy. Christmas tradition has been chosen to be put off.

We've made it to Albury alright. The trip up was good but it has been a big day for the boys and they're tired silly

Home. Food bought. Food eaten. Now clean bedroom. Clean fridge to make space. Mop floors. Wrap presents. Figure out exactly how long I need for things to cook tomorrow. Listening to the hogfather audiobook for company. Let's gOooo.

I went outside for the bins and the black cat came up with an excited wiggly tail. So I patted him/her for the first time.

spoilerHad to watch it though because they were doing roly polys and showing belly so I chose to keep my hands away from the bear trap. Seems smaller than I remember but fur is soft and shiny, doesn’t seem to be starving or ill.

Melbcat is sooky and cuddly tonight, she was snuggled up being held and tucking her head into my neck/under my chin.

spoilerA bit worried about eligibility for surgery in January. More risks are being discussed and because her usual vets don’t want to give more antibiotics her uti may need to be treated by a specialist.

Woken early by a bizarre dream (IRL dungeon with a floating dragon head - the reward at the end was a 20% off voucher at a cosemtic store) and soon after the neighbours had an epic meltdown, mum and kid absolutely screaming at each other. Oy.

Edit: I think they might have been screaming over a spider. I get it.

I'm deciding on a coffee or the start of a 3 day bender.

All very great suggestions but I'm going with a vodka, lemon, lime and bitters.

Christmas Eve run complete. A lot warmer than I thought it was.

[–] CEOofmyhouse56@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Waiting for delivery #3 but did attempt #1 & #2 really happen yesterday cos the gate was unlocked all day. It's not that hard to press a button. It's a jigsaw puzzle ffs. Chuck it over the fence.

[–] calhoon2005@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago

Wrapping presents and just found out I may have doubled up on a present. Not really worried about it as I got the Whispering Jack album twice in 1986, and it was pretty awesome.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 5 points 4 months ago (2 children)

Got some shopping done, then had a nap. Now I wonder whether to have beer or Prosecco
