I don't have nice things to say about Mappa after how JJK S2 went down production-wise and how they treated Chainsaw Man S1's director but I can feel my principles leaving my body over the trailer's runtime ahhhhhh why does capitalism suck so much...

What happened here?
Ok, long story short-
CSM S1 is Ryu Nakayama's directorial debut. He decides on a more filmic/cinematic grounded style that goes over poorly with the Japanese audience. (To be fair there's some valid criticism here, I think most of the audience was expecting an adaptation much closer to Fujimoto's sketchy manga style like in the Reze arc or Look Back movies).
After the public backlash, some stuff goes down at MAPPA that we're not privy too, and Nakayama leaves to form his own anime studio. Which, well, sucks but ok.
What’s messed up is in the lead up to the Reze movie's release, MAPPA released a heavily edited compilation movie of S1 (like to the point where they re-did the voiceover work), but struck Nakayama from the credits.

That's pretty fucked up.
I also think that having a "cinematic" style in CSM specifically is a way more interesting understanding of the aesthetic of the series than just "the manga is our storyboard lel"

I'm excited for this, especially after rewatching S1 then Reze Arc anime. The Public Safety Saga is about to escalate after this and I can't wait to see what they'll do afterwards.
Such a shame that MAPPA is doing it considering their practice, but ugh.. I hope by the time we reach like Anime Adaptation of the current manga Chainsaw Man Arc, capitalism has fallen but yeah..
Also, I'm excited for the new OP song likely coming. Hope Kenshi Yonezu does it again and adds another anime song to my playlist I play everyday
