Had a 'big sis' friend tell my naive and timid ass that saying a couple decades ago. Got reminded of it (not like that) today and had a chuckle.

For context, if a woman is wearing matching bra and panties it's likely she knew you'd be seeing them later that night.

So, I'm curious, you think it's true? Any other thoughts?

It's bullshit. What undergarments I wear have nothing to do with how horny I am. Sometimes I wear matching garments because I felt like it, other times it's just because laundry day happened to line up

I like to wear nice underwear when I dress nice regardless of if I intend to put out

[–] Vanth@reddthat.com 37 points 4 months ago

Not sure the saying actually comes from a rom-com, but I sure could see it. Dumb. Can't even wear a set of goddamn underwear without someone overanalyzing it.

I don't like the phrase. It just feels bad, idk. If she put in effort to wear nice underwear for you, its probably one of many little details she put into your date. Idk. I'm kind of a prude.

It also kind of feels like something a dudebro might say later after he pressured his drunk date into something she didn't want to do.

To be clear it was a 29 yr old straight woman telling an 18 yr old straight guy this. (Who maintained a platonic relationship of "bis sis/lil bro" for many years.)

Oh ya I get that, but in general that's what the phrase makes me think of.

I'll just say, as a guy, I absolutely had pairs of boxer briefs I'd wear when I was going out as a younger man. I even still have some, but I'm married with two kids, and so they're for when I'm staying in now.

But that being said, just because I wore them didn't mean I was hooking up with someone. And that could be her choice or my choice, it's gotta be a mutual thing. So at the most it indicates a potential intent. But I had times I wore my shit and chose not to for one reason or another at the end of the night. And probably ten times more the choice was made for me.

Everything is so expensive now. If it doesn't have stains or holes I'm counting it as a matching set.

lol

I never thought I'd get into thrift shopping. Now I regularly visit a couple local thrift shops and have gotten some pretty decent finds. (Which excites me more than it probably should. Being an adult is not what I expected. lé sigh )

This is a great idea. ~~Some~~ most of my favorite undergarments aren't made anymore and all the new stuff is so uncomfortable.

[–] Witchfire@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago) (2 children)

Honestly, underwear with fart holes is the most comfortable. It's good to keep a pair or two of shitty underwear around anyways for when you don't want to risk ruining a nice pair

[–] ComfortableRaspberry@feddit.org 6 points 4 months ago

I imagine some day I'll have enough space for a period drawer with all the comfy stained panties too wear while having bad PMS and periods. Someday!

[–] 200ok@lemmy.world 1 points 4 months ago

Practical. I love it.

[–] FartMaster69@lemmy.dbzer0.com 25 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I mean I should hope both parties decided on it.

[–] thecoffeehobbit@sopuli.xyz 7 points 4 months ago

It does rub me the wrong way too, implying men are in general not in control of their relationships and their opinion matters less.

[–] BryceBassitt@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 4 months ago

I pick my undies for me and no one else and I like em to match

[–] kamillz@lemmy.blahaj.zone 19 points 4 months ago

I like my stuff to match, so it wouldn't be them deciding. Me getting into bed with all my friends tho, that might be a reason for me to want it to match

[–] greatwhitebuffalo41@slrpnk.net 14 points 4 months ago (2 children)

I haven't owned a matching pair in years. Computer coordinating maybe but not matching.

[–] treadful@lemmy.zip 8 points 4 months ago

I want to see computer coordinated underwear.

[–] Dalacos@lemmy.world 6 points 4 months ago

My ex (from a 7yr long relationship) just wore whatever was most comfortable. Typically that meant they didn't match. Not even sure she actually had any matching undies now you mention it. She hated buying bras.

[–] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca -3 points 4 months ago

I think that if they don't match then you just smear garbage juice on them until they do.
