If you guys need a transmitter, I'd highly recommend the RadioMaster Pocket with ELRS radio. It's around $65 these days. It's very durable, uses rechargeable batteries, can be used as a flight controller on your PC, and it uses open source ExpressLRS protocol, which is what you'll want if you ever build a quad drone.

Intriguing. Looks like it needs specific rc drone controls, but that's not too surprising in hindsight.
This software was purpose built for accurately training real soldiers on drone ops.
Will it work on a Steam Deck? I've seen that used for controlling drones in Ukraine.
Probably not just yet. I do see upcoming Xbox and PS5 controller support on the Steam page, which should hopefully just map to the Steam Deck layout.
