An unofficial chapter of the popular Dull Men's Club.

https://dullmensclub.com/

1. Relevant commentary on your own dull life. Posts should be about your own dull, lived experience. This is our most important rule. Direct questions, random thoughts, comment baiting, advice seeking, many uses of "discuss" rarely comply with this rule.

2. Original, Fresh, Meaningful Content.

3. Avoid repetitive topics.

4. This is not a search engine
Use a search engine, a tradesperson, Reddit, friends, a specialist Facebook group, apps, Wikipedia, an AI chat, a reverse image search etc. to answer simple questions or identify objects. Also see rule 1, “comment baiting”.

There are a number of content specific communities with subject matter experts who can help you.

Some other communities to consider before posting:

5. Keep it dull. If it puts us to sleep, it’s on the right track. Examples of likely not dull: jokes, gross stuff (including toes), politics, religion, royalty, illness or injury, killing things for fun, or promotional content. Feel free to post these elsewhere.

6. No hate speech, sexism, or bullying No sexism, hate speech, degrading or excessively foul language, or other harmful language. No othering or dehumanizing of anyone or negativity towards any gender identity.

7. Proofread before posting. Use good grammar and punctuation. Avoid useless phrases. Some examples: - starting a post with "So" - starting a post with pointless phrases, like "I hope this is allowed" or “this is my first post” Only share good quality, cropped images. Do not share screenshots of images; share the original image.

See, what you need is a second, smaller Roomba to clean your main one.

Obligatory relevant XKCD

Edited it to a direct link now because fuck you google

[–] notabot@piefed.social 20 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Rather than using link shorteners, or whatever share.google is, you could direct link to xkcd 3133.

[–] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

Yea I should have shared the direct link. Pressed share on my android and I led to that monstrosity

[–] wizardbeard@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 4 weeks ago

Yeah, if you search from the google bar/search bar, google hijacks the links into that. Yet another google "win". "Don't be evil" or whatever, lol.

What on earth is "share.google"?

[–] 9point6@lemmy.world 7 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

A dark pattern they've started doing from their Android app

The same place used to copy the original URL to the clipboard for around a decade, recently it changed to doing this bullshit in the past year or so

[–] LORDSMEGMA@sh.itjust.works 3 points 4 weeks ago

Yea that's a more recent development I was not aware of. Gotta be more aware of which share button I'm using now

What's the number of the xkcd?

[–] truthfultemporarily@feddit.org 2 points 4 weeks ago

The newer ones have a dock that cleans the mops and empties the dust bins so pretty close.

[–] tacotroubles@lemmy.world 15 points 4 weeks ago

For a brief moment in time you were a vacuum cleaner.

I have the new roomba robot which cleans the roomba for me.

[–] bibluz4@lemmy.blahaj.zone 1 points 4 weeks ago (1 children)

I'm sure that's so nice. Does it do a good job?

[–] notsosure@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 weeks ago

They don’t call it Roomba Ultra 1.0x for nothing!

I'm sure it appreciated that you returned the favour
