Something that happened or was uncovered recently anywhere in the world. It doesn't have to have global implications. Just has to be informative in some way.

The perverse irony appears to be completely lost on them.

"Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past."

Copy and paste "fascist" for Sartre's "anti-Semite" and you'll see some patterns of behavior emerging.

You're right, of course: It's not that they're oblivious (well, Trump notwithstanding); it's that they just don't care whether they're being flamingly hypocritical or not. They're essentially 4-chan trolls.

This timeline, man...

It is not lost in them. The intention is to equate their "facts" with actual reality.

And they are succeeding.

WAR IS PEACE

FREEDOM IS SLAVERY

IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH

FACT-CHECKING IS CENSORSHIP

The overton window's been hauled so far into the red sea, facts are now liberal.

If one were to check left-leaning publications' fact checking records, they'd find a fuck ton of media labelled "Heavily biased" with spotless reports for authentic journalism. Take one tippy-toe step to the right of neutral and it gets awful hard to find the truth.

Facts have a well-known liberal bias

So, all reddit moderators banned: I'm conflicted. No one wants to go to the US anymore, anyway.

I live here and don't even want to be here many days.

  1. Shit
  2. Hole
  3. Country (I use this term loosely, as failed state is more fitting.)

...i am in the US...i was born here...i have voted in every election since i was 18...i call my senators and representative on a weekly basis...i was taught civics, and this is anything but civic...this is brutal...this is a victim mentality after being told for 50 years that being smart is wrong, being empathic is wrong, being a human being is wrong...you must join a clique and if you stray, you will be damned...

yet another clear sign to not go to that shithole

[–] rimu@piefed.social 9 points 6 days ago

lol what if you built a social media platform that has fact-checking links in the sidebar of every page, does that count?
