We live where it’s warm and never snows, but for Thanksgiving break we went back to my midwestern hometown. We got a couple unexpected snowfalls. The joy my kids had in sledding… it was so good to see. My wife and I had to get our kids back inside eventually because they were on such a high they might not have even felt themselves getting frostbitten.

I remember naps.

What a wonderful few moments of peace those were.

My little cutie has hated sleep since day 1 and still fights tooth and nail every night. "I DONT WANT IT TO BE NIGHT TIME I WANT IT TO BE DAY TIME" Very cute

Our 2yo has been skipping his naps on the weekends for the last three weeks in a row. It is not something we were prepared for so early for him! Maybe he'll relapse back to napping on the weekends.

I have a four and a half year old. His friends parents with kids th same age will mention that their kid is fussy because he "didn't nap today," meanwhile my son hasn't napped at home since he was two

We actually had a really nice four day weekend. We cooked, we fixed up the house, we played, we got a tree, it snowed. There was no fighting and it was just a nice four days. That’s a lot of days in a row for it to be peaceful.

We had our first swimming lessons where we didn't have to get in the pool this weekend. It was great to not have both of us in the water at the same time and then try to dry two kids and ourselves. One kid took it well and the other got upset partway through. He already looked sad, but the kids are in different classes at different times, so we had to go over to the other lane to put Kid A in and that might be what pushed him over the edge. I think it will get better as they get use to it.

Also, I'm going to get the kids this Beastie Boys Intergalactic action figure set for Christmas. This is one case of treaterlite capitalism trying to monetise every memory and pop culture moment working out. These sets are meant to be collector's items that sit boxed on a man child's shelf, but this will be one set that goes to actual children that love the source material and will play with them the way they're supposed to. The kids are getting to the stage where they're doing more imagination play so I can't wait to hear what they say when playing with those two figures. And I can't think of a more specific example where kids get into something and they actually get toys from it.
