Vampires

"Few creatures of the night have captured our imagination like vampires.
What explains our enduring fascination with vampires? Is it the overtones of sexual lust, power, control? Or is it a fascination with the immortality of the undead?"

Feel free to post any vampire-related content here. I'll be posting various vampire media I enjoy just as a way of kickstarting this community but don't let that stop you from posting something else. I just wanted a place to discuss vampire movies, books, games, etc.

Blutwurst, sangre frita, BlodplΓ€ttar... Scabs?

[–] MelodiousFunk@slrpnk.net 32 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Scabs

Proof that vampires are pro-union. ✊

Or anti union only for the snacks.

Vampires can't eat food when they feel like it?

[–] traceur402@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 1 month ago (2 children)

there's documentary evidence that human food causes violent vomiting in vampires! (what we do in the shadows)

[–] Iheartcheese@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

I retract the question.

i'm a vampire and i can eat food.

I would imagine it’s like water to them.

Do you get tired of the taste of water when thirsty?

[–] explodicle@sh.itjust.works 15 points 1 month ago (2 children)

I would not suggest a visit to the USA

[–] thevoidzero@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Yup, I don't drink soda and many functions/events don't have water. It's all alcohol or soda. It's as if they think noone drinks water.

[–] SkaveRat@discuss.tchncs.de 4 points 1 month ago

Water? Like from the toilet?

[–] WhiteOakBayou@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

These functions don't have water to mix with the alcohol?

[–] thevoidzero@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

If they have a bar they'll have water. The cases I'm talking about is just beer/wine/soda situation.

Edit: Mostly just a container with ice and drinks. And I guess they didn't think water deserves a place.

Also in places that don't include alcohol it's just soda and coffee and again no water

Just generally or related to this topic?

Coz I'm taking it as "both" and may their tourism industry adapt.

Blood is culinarily almost equivalent to eggs (as in, you can substitute blood for eggs in practically any recipe, and get a similar result, except, I suppose, for the taste).

You can make meringue with blood instead of egg whites.

always felt like vampire media neglects this a lot. There should be some real kickass vampire culinary science going on, but it's always just blood chalices. where's the blood key lime pie?!

[–] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 month ago

β€œThe Vampire's Cookbook”

Someone should write that, sounds like a potential best seller.

[–] trillytrill@mstdn.social 1 points 1 month ago

@djsoren19 @leftzero

[furiously taking notes]

An all liquid diet would lead to some absolutely terrible vampire shits and farts.

Black pudding?

[–] Egonallanon@feddit.uk 8 points 1 month ago

Black pudding to the rescue!

[–] xep@discuss.online 7 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Most creatures don't have much variety in their diet, I think!

[–] mech@feddit.org 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Humans can survive and thrive on meat alone, if you eat every part of the animal. But I wouldn't recommend it if the animals are raised in factory farms.

Or if you're a vegan, potatoes and oats also got you covered for everything except Vitamin B12. Which you used to get from the soil the plants grew in, before factory farming sterilized it. Or from meat, before they started to feed only corn to cattle.
Nowadays (in American supermarket food) the only source for B12 is artificially produced supplements. Either taken by you directly, or fed to cattle as an extra step.

Maybe you cant digest it but that doesn’t mean your taste buds no longer work.

Just gotta get used to spitting it out after chewing.

What i will really miss is garlic though, i absolutely love the stuff the smell is heaven to me.
