Am I missing something important here? Something new was achieved regarding the topic, or this is just a "hey, a reminder that valve games can be cracked too" kind of thread? Luckily, always been a common practice to archive old versions of all CS games. CS:GO in particular was always "cracked" with RevEmu (as the usual emulator of choice and shared on RIN as usual, to give one common example. Some sites used to share similar builds with every item unlocked, custom unofficial server lists and blahblah. It's the reason why we still can play some versions from even 2012! Which is cool since they removed most maps some years later for some reason. 😔

No, nothing new here but good to know these games are crackable. Is it the same for CS2?
What's the benefit of this? Cracking an online game that is free anyway
What do you mean free? You literally can't get this even with money. It's called preservation and people enjoying the "good old versions"
CS:GO is a free game. I was wondering about pirating a game that is 100% online. Are people downloading this only playing against bots? Are there going to be private servers also rolledback to a previous version? I'm just curious
CS:GO is a free game
Was* a free game. Now it's unavailable with no legal means of getting it.
Are there going to be private servers also rolledback to a previous version?
There have always been something called "legacy servers". The link in this post that links to the download actually includes some of those servers.
