If you find an injured owl:

Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.

Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.

Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.

If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

National Aubudon Societe on Instagram: "This week we're high lightning photographer, cinematographer and Audubon Photography Awards Honorable Mention awardee Nathan Clark and his incredible videos of a Great Gray Owl family that he studied for years. In this clip, you'll see the adult engaged in a courtship ritual. Before nesting, the male and the female spent several weeks courting and selecting there nesting site for the year. They may use the same nesting site for several years or choose a new spot. During this time, the pair spend a lot of time preening each other ans strengthening their bond , often vocalizing."

You had me clicking that play button a few times 😁

Cute mutual preening between some big, beautiful owls.

As owls are usually solitary creatures outside of mating season, some think this behavior helps calm down those natural instincts to fight off someone who would otherwise be competition for food or appropriate nesting areas.

A friend send this to me. It was so good I had to share it!

I like seeing their sweet sides as well as the grumpy murder side.

They can be cuddly when they want to be 🥰

Not Instagram please, I only have 2 GB of RAM on my phone and too little BS tolerance.

Sorry. I don't even have it. A friend send it to me knowing I love owl and somehow I was able to see it without an account. The vidéo was great so I thought it was worth sharing but I comply get your feeling. If I ever share something from Instagram again, I'll add a CW (^_^)

I can see the URL before clicking. A yt-dlp+catbox.moe bot might be a better solution.

I don't understand what this means so I think it is a bit out of my capacity.

yt-dlp is a program that downloads videos from various sites.

catbox.moe can then be used to host the raw file, playable without JS and embeddable.

A bot could search for new posts with 𝑥 upvotes hosted on a list of "annoying" sites and post a comment with an embedded video rehosted on catbox. However, that is out of my currebt capabilities.

Example output:

Rehosted on catbox.moe
video embed
Raw file

Thank you for the explanation.
