Who would've guessed westerners are nazis?

[–] Midnight_Pearl@hexbear.net 51 points 4 days ago (4 children)

been seeing a bunch of AI-translated hitler speeches recommended in youtube's sidebar with hundreds of thousands to millions of views, and the comments are exactly what you'd expect:

"ThErEs a ReAsOn tHeSe hAvE nEvEr bEeN tRaNsLaTeD bEfOrE" "SoUnDs lIkE hE jUsT wAnTeD tO sAvE hIs cOuNtRy" "PrOpHeTiC"

so yeah we've reached the logical conclusion of youtube's right wing propaganda pipeline: unironic support for hitler

"ThErEs a ReAsOn tHeSe hAvE nEvEr bEeN tRaNsLaTeD bEfOrE"

There's a reason Amerikkkans think these have never been translated before (they are not literate).

Westerners have always been fash, "at least the trains ran on time" was from like the 70s rehabilitating mussolini (the trains didnt run on time because of the rampant corruption). This has been a long time coming tbh

“ThErEs a ReAsOn tHeSe hAvE nEvEr bEeN tRaNsLaTeD bEfOrE”

They make the similarities between him and contemporary anticommunist politicians too obvious?

I am also on a crusade to make most westerners realize that they are almost indistinguishable from Hitler. Unfortunately, I fear that the conclusion they will inevitably come to is "OK, Heil Hitler".

The most troubling thing for me growing up is seeing people I thought were decent enough decide "Is America similar to Nazi Germany? Well then obviously I wasn't lied to about America and was lied to about Hitler instead."

Like we all sat through the same classes in middle school and high school where it was emphasized nazis said whatever they thought people wanted to hear while doing the opposite, right?

I've come to think that the majority of people are simply weathervanes. It's not a matter or being "good" or "decent" people, they're just a product of their class interests and their social environment. It's possible to defeat that, but on average people do not and will not do so.

Many (I would estimate at least a plurality of but possibly a majority of) Americans and Europeans are, deep down, little Hitlers. This is because the decay of capitalism gives them a choice between Hitler and Lenin, and Hitler benefits them by allowing them to continue to pilfer the third world.

Comments could be botted or astroturfed as Frogman said but those view counts are concerning

Millions of Gen Zers are watching Hitler and Hitler clips on Instagram—right next to Hitler and Hitler ads

Fixed the headline.

They really couldn’t use better examples jfc? Like, Nintendo and Macy’s, literally anything else Viagra and dog I dunno

[–] LeninWeave@hexbear.net 11 points 4 days ago

This had to have been intentional. Someone in the editing room must have been at least a bit cool, looked at the list of ad topics, and deliberately picked the two most Hitler mainstream examples.

[–] segfault11@hexbear.net 15 points 4 days ago

that’s the nature of targeted advertising 🤷‍♀️

This is why when I first started hearing the ills of young adults in society being heavily blamed on TikTok when that was only like 2 years old I knew we were a bit screwed. Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram were poison by 2016 yet Facebook only got attention for a short period because of Cambridge Analytica while YouTube and Instagram got to face little to no blowback since we were busy with our ongoing yellow menace/red scare of scapegoating the problems fostered by our own people and companies. Meta/Facebook ran a lobbying/advertising masterclass shifting all attention towards TikTok while Instagram and Facebook had influenced modern American society for about 15 (Facebook) years by 2020

YouTube is still the worst of all though. Everything people get mad about for social media trends were well practiced on YouTube by like 2015. Only change was boiling it down to super short videos which YouTube was quick to adopt and master

Thing that worries me is that they can just ban all this off of social media later and pivot into mass surveillance industrial complex. I can see people overwhelmingly supporting it too, because they think the phone is what turned their kids into little Nazis. That's what will be on everyone's minds.

And if this doesn't work out, then of course all the indoctrinated kids can become violent enforcers of the empire. It's a win/win either way for them. As long as capitalism doesn't become threatened it's always a win.

yeah, there's agartha memes trending rn
