Ok, given this, my sense is that the statement at the top is more to stay in the US's good graces than any sort of deep, genuine support of Israel over Palestine.

Almost every country in the world aligns with the one-china principle, including Israel.
Notably, also including the Republic of China (AKA Taiwan). This is just DPP cope.
