It's like being a Millennial and not on FB.

Sometimes our group chat will just be a flurry of facebook links, and I'm just sitting in the corner by myself lol. Can't even click on them because I've got every Meta/FB domain blocked in my router, in PiHole, and in AdAway on my phone.

Elder millennial here. I dumped Facebook a few years back. Can't imagine ever being back on it again. But in its heyday decade from like 2008 to 2018, life without it was unimaginable.

I also never got on Instagram at all. It's bizarre watching shows where people's lives revolve around it.

I dumped it in 2009 and didn't feel like I missed much. YMMV obv.

Ugh, at least your group chat isn't on Facebook Messenger. I've tried to get folks to migrate to Signal. Some did. Some don't care. Some refuse.

I managed to get my high-school friends and my brother to use Signal. Not as lucky getting my eldest sister to switch away from WhatsApp.

It doesn't really make me feel out of touch with my peers, but more my parents and older/younger relatives (like at least 3 years). I can't even finish processing what i just watched before they go to the next video. I've always been pretty slow though

If it's any consolation, neither can they. That's one of the problems with slopscrolling platforms

Zillenial here, most folks I hear mention tiktoks irl are my 45+ year old coworkers. Somehow neither it nor FB nor Snapchat were ever used by my friend circle.

I just don't understand the obsession with short-form media. Usually the stuff I like to watch it at least 20 minutes, preferably an hour

Ikr, I feel like my ADHD ass has nowhere near the executive function to change the channel on TV every 30 seconds so to speak

As another older gen z, I have probably always been out of the loop and out of touch for basically my whole life. Though I attribute this more towards my autism and marching to the beat of my own drum ( wouldn't be surprised if those are connected ).

You ask me about some popular live action TV show from the past decade and I'm not gonna have a clue. You ask me about the latest pop music and I'll probably end up bringing up something nobody around me knows about. Ask me about the latest hit games and there's a basically 100% chance I've only ever seen a play through done by someone I watch online, if even that.

I'll always applaud those who unsubscribe from any of the big MassBrainwash as a Service (MBaaS) cloud apps. It probably won't kill you to use those apps but a lot of what comes out in the wash will be your own rhythm and time.

A small price to pay for slightly less Spyware feeding your every breath to the government for profit, and said government picking and choosing what someone can and can't show ya

Get on TikTok before the buyout occurs.

Then delete your account day before so your data doesn't get transferred to the USA.
