On the one hand, this stuff is dogshit. On the other hand, it's a convenient alternative in bass ackwards states that get on their knees for Jesus and won't legalize the non-dogshit real deal. Literally the only time state legislators don't want corruption money, apparently?

I don't think it should be banned, but I also think it's bunk. THC doesn't do anything healthy for the body. It's all BS. But not sure why congress is even wasting their time with stuff like this.
Also, Lemmy I don't care how mad you are, THC oil doesn't help you. But hey, feel free to throw your money away, and I think you should be free to be an idiot and throw that money away. It doesn't concern me at all.
I mean, cannabis/THC is used in different types of therapeutic treatment all over the world, and has been for literally centuries, but okay buddy
Riiiigggghhht. LMAO
Literally two seconds of reading.
Is this like an elitism, looking down on people who use cannabis type thing? Because it’s definitely not rooted in any sort of intellectual honesty
Same energy as someone who judges someone for having a beer on the weekend by saying “I don’t need alcohol to have fun”, while everyone rolls their eyes into the back of their head
Is this like an elitism, looking down on people who use cannabis type thing?
Yep.
But you keep believing made-up stuff. Rhino horns have been used as an aphrodisiac for centuries. And dried tiger penis? You think that's has magical effects too? Let me guess, you think that there's a magical central energy force in the center of your body too?
Do you think that it's good luck to have your furniture facing a specific direction so you can get "good energy" in your house and not evil energy? LMAO
Brah, it's all fucking bunk. A plant that gets you high. That's it. It's not magic. It's not healthy. The oil isn't magic. It doesn't fucking do shit for healing. Just admit you like to get high and most of the magical qualities that you all push was just to get it normalized so it'd be legal. Hemp makes good clothes and paper. Regular weed gets you high. That's all there is to it.
Dude, I'm with you. I voted for legalization. I think it should be legal. But it's not healing or magic. Stop.
There are medical applications != “healing magic”
If you use your eyes and your big boy brain to read things, you’ll see that basically every culture has found medical applications for cannabis.
You clearly will disregard any history or science that comes your way, because you’ve dug in your heels and found something to make you feel better than some caricature you’ve invented in your head.
I’m not going to address any of the false equivalencies you’ve presented because as stated, you’re speaking from a place of imagined elitism and not intellectual honesty.
And your speaking for a place of pro-weed elitism. My opinion is just as valid as yours. You keep smoking, tho. I'll keep standing for your right to do it. But I'll keep mocking people who get high. :)
Your opinion isn’t as valid as anyone’s because it isn’t based on facts. I haven’t even indicated if I smoke. I haven’t given an opinion at all in fact.
I actually haven’t said anything for or against weed either way, only acknowledged that it does in fact have medical uses. Which is a fact.
This is a very libertarian approach to reality, as long as it makes you feel better than someone else it must be true right?
Meh, I think it should be legal. I think it's overhyped. You're taking this way too personal.
I’m not taking it personal at all, I’m calling you out for being a pompous ass, and being wrong in equal measure.
I'm not wrong, and you are taking it personal. Just let it go. We can agree to disagree.
sigh
I forget that dealing with libertarians is basically just talking to a high school freshman level of intellect most of the time.
Okay buddy, whatever makes you feel better.
It doesn’t hurt either and even if it did, it wouldn’t be the fucking governments business.
THC has anti-inflammatory properties: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9124761/
The article itself says cannabis effects are ‘not completely understood’ and that treatments need ‘careful selection of active compounds,’ which shows THC’s anti-inflammatory action is limited and not reliable on its own. LMAO
Dude, I voted pro-legalization. Just stop acting like it's anything more than people like to get high. And that's fine, but stop acting like it's some medical magic. lol
I literally just linked the first google result. Not the only research about it.
Why does it being limited mean anything? Is limited the same as non existent now, or...?
Edit: You can pick and choose quotes, but this is directly from the abstract:
In multiple experimental models, both in vitro and in vivo, several phytocannabinoids, including Δ9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabigerol (CBG), exhibit activity against inflammation.
I honestly could not give less of a shit about your position on legalization. But to pretend that established medical uses for cannabis are just fake is ignorant as fuck.
There is no valid medical use for cannabis. People just like to get high. Which is fine, but just admit it.
Normally I wouldn't wish a chronic illness like mine on just about anybody. In your case I think it would be educational.
I certainly hope you get better. Doesn't mean I have to believe in weed tho. If you do, and you feel it helps, then good for you! I don't agree with banning it.
You don't get better from a chronic illness.
One day, maybe you will learn. Then, I would like to hear about what you believe.
Oh well then case closed I guess. Who needs actual science and peer review, this guy on Lemmy said so.
Hope you never have to deal with Crohn's disease.
I hope this ends those bunk ass alphabet soup vapes I see. Who knows what THC-jdpq is doing to the random kids that aren't ID'ed at the sketchy shops in my hometown.
Great point!
Thanks! I can't find a single long term study on even thc-p. I don't think the general population should be guinea pigs for new synthetic cannabinoids. Didn't go well with K2 spice.
I thought the whole thing is all this Delta 8 was not synthetic
Also see my other comment if ya want, but these thc-p thc-o thc-jd etc are legalized through the farm bill. Even d8 is synthetic in the sense that it is synthesized from a precursor in a lab due to economics rather than trying to cencetrate it from hemp directly.
I'm not saying everything synthetic is bad or anything. Just that these are synthesized cannabinoids. Spice could be from any plant or whatever, and these all have to be synthesized from hemp.
At least delta 8 seems decently studied. I have genuinely seen a thc-jd vape in a shop. It's basically completely unregulated in my home state. I'm all for legalizing stuff but there is a reason you usually hear the pair "legalize and regulate".
This entire thing is about THC that is derived from hemp, not synthetics.
Ahh fair. Maybe I used the wrong term. I guess I mean novel barely tested cannabinoids made through chemically altering cannabinoids naturally present in hemp. It's a bit of a mouthful though, and these cannabinoids are generally synthesized from CBD and CBG since none are naturally present in high enough quantities to be economically viable.
To me main the main difference between spice and these newer synthesized cannabinoids is:
- Some have some decent testing.
- All start from some natural cannabinoid.
- Most variations are riding on argument "well it exist at 0.2% in the plant naturally, so it must be safe to smoke a vape full of it."
THC-A and d8 seem fine. A lot of the alphabet soup ass variants seem like a race to the bottom. I think long term safety testing should come before mass production.
